Final Fight: Double Impact dated

On both XBLA and PSN this week.

Final Fight: Double Impact is due out on Xbox Live Arcade tomorrow and on PlayStation Network on Thursday.

The former news comes via Major Nelson, who confirms it will cost 800 Microsoft Points (£6.80 / €9.60).

The latter news comes from Capcom, who told Eurogamer to expect it on PSN on Thursday. There's no word on price but typically 800 MSP translates to $9.99.

Final Fight: Double Impact bundles side-scrolling action games Final Fight and Magic Sword together and promises online and local two-player co-op. It also boasts a soundtrack by the people who remixed content for Bionic Commando: Rearmed.

    It needs to have the mega cd soundtrack complete with cheesy dialogue.

    Is it a re-release or a remake (like the ReBirth games on WiiWare, even if they are not by Capcom)? I loved Final Fight 3 but the first two really were average at best.

    It was dated over a month ago. I love both Final Fight and Magic Sword so this is a no brainer (sorry) for me.

    I'm not sure I care what 800 MSP translates to in *dollars* on PSN... :S

    No thank you. I remember playing this game down the local arcade, back in the day...only 1 thing, nostalgia can cause huge disappointments. Sure, they have spruced it up and even added nice new touches BUT under the bonnet still lies the game-play of a title released in the 80's.

    I hope it's good

    Double Dragon was such a huge disappointment on xbla so I'll go the trial route first

    So Capcom contacted you to confirm the PSN release date but didn't mention the price, and nobody asked them about it?

    800 MSP is always translated to $9.99 but very rarely translated into a UK equivalent, depending on the publisher we might £6.29, which is pretty close to the exchange rate, but in the vast majority of cases we're charged £7.99 for that content, which is a 30% hike over the exchange rate and the price enjoyed by 360 users.

    On topic, not too sure about this one, I love Final Fight but don't know Magic Sword too well, I'll have to look into it before making any decisions, though if the PSN price is artificially inflated with the hike mentioned above I'll simply skip it on principle until it appears in the special offers section of the PSN Store.

    @ muscleblade

    thanks, good to see those reviews. I remeber playing Final Fight in the arcades so defintiely picking this up then. These are the type of games btw I would love in the gameroom, not the very old arcade games they have now.

    If they can put together a package featuring Vendetta and Cadillacs and Dinosaurs, I'm interested.
  • muscleblade #11 2 years ago

    @TruWari3r

    Exactly. I thouth this and the upcoming After Burner was meant for game room in the first place when first announced. What where they thinking.

    Is it just me or could Capcom be doing a whole lot more with its delivery of old school content over XBLA and the PSN? It has the richest back catalogue of 2D fighters around, but you wouldn't think that looking at what's available (okay, i'll admit that i'm just sick of playing SF3: Third Strike with either a Dreamcast pad or Xbox Controller S!).

    I appreciate that they can't stick everything up there, but there's such a wealth of mid to late '90's goodies that i'd (and lots more, i'm sure) be happy to hand over the readies for - again!

    @FuzzyDuck

    Most of them will turn up eventually. As i never played third strike i really hope its coming on xbla soon.

    @FuzzyDuck

    I agree, there's tons of games I'd like to see released (Aliens vs Predator springs to mind). I think Sega and Namco are also guilty of not exploiting their huge back catalogue. Microsoft's "Game" Room is full of games I don't want to play. Get some Daytona, Sega Rally, Ridge Racer, Time Crisis, etc in there and I will be all over it.

    @muscleblade

    Here's hoping.

    Third Strike isn't for everybody to be honest, but if you enjoy a good, deep 2D fighter, then it's an absolute joy.

    And Hugo is the best SF/FF crossover character of the lot.

    @fuzzyduck@muscleblade

    If they release 3rd Strike on XBL, that'd be the 3rd time I buy the same game. FuzzyDuck - you know you can pop the disc into the 360 and it works... And you can play online until next week or whatever.
  • FuzzyDuck #17 2 years ago

    @photoboy

    If Sega Rally or Daytona ever appear they'll have my money on day one.

    @Ranger101

    Yep, that's one of the things i love about the 360, i just don't own one (shuts off PS3 in a huff and takes SF: Aniversary Collection to 360-owning mate's house :p)
  • TRUTH #18 2 years ago

    SF III (I prefer this to 3rd Strike - though doesn't really bother me now), Capcom Vs Snk 1 (2 was not as good as one), SF Vs X-Men all released in HD and widescreen - that be the best thing Capcom can do for XBLive/PSN.

    Double Impact!? They better have Mo-Cap'd JCVD's moves or I'll be pissed.
