Everybody's Golf 5 for March News

PlayStation 3 News by Tom Bramwell

12 December, 2007

Everybody's Golf 5 will hopefully be released here in March for PS3, Sony UK told Eurogamer this morning after SCEA announced a similar release date overnight for North America.

Over there it will go by the name Hot Shots Golf 5, but we'll refer to it as Everybody's Golf 5, much as we did in our Everybody's Golf 5 Japanese import review.

Therein we remarked that despite its simple, tap-tap-tap-GOLF gameplay and similarity to previous games in the series, the control system's hidden depths and Sony's ability to inject variety everywhere else made up for its "unabashedly old school" design decisions.

But don't just take our word for it (Dave's word, anyway) - poke your nose round the gamepage's door and you can admire trailers and Japanese adverts, too. And screenshots, if you're a bit old-fashioned.

GREAT! But I would have preferred it in November which is when I thought it was coming.

Are any of these worth picking up on PS2? I quite like golf games but have never owned one.

The PS2 version is brilliant. Except for the King tournament. You expect us to hit you with -21 scores?!

Pick up the Japanese version, it is really easy to pickup and the menu's are fairly easy to negotiate with a little trial and error (if you get stuck there are online menu translations floating around the internet).

Also Everybody's Golf Portable 2 came out for PSP in Japan last week, i am waiting for my copy to arrive from YesAsia.

Didn't this game come out months ago in Japan (the import review was back in August)? :?

Why does is it take Sony so long to translate a bloody golf game into English? It's ridiculous. The problem with delaying games like these is that by the time they arrive, they've started to date or have been superseded by something better (in this case, probably Everybody's Golf 6!!!). IMO it happened with Trauma Center: 2nd Opinion on the Wii and to a lesser extent with Blue Dragon on the 360, both of which came across as less impressive when they finally arrived.
