E3: Ubisoft's Cop: The Recruit shown

Gritty openworld DS game.

Nintendo has shown off Ubisoft's new DS action game Cop: The Recruit at its E3 conference.

The game - outed by a trademark filing recently - sees a New York cop called Dan Myers unravelling a conspiracy.

This he does with touch-based shooting, driving and speed boats, because he's an underground street racer in a "gritty open world".

Ubisoft's obviously not put off by the weak sales of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars then, and that's no bad thing, because GTA DS was wicked.

No word on a date that we spotted in the conference, but we'll follow it up afterwards to find out for sure as there's bound to be one.

    Um . . . cool?

Chinatown Wars was awesome, and I wouldn't mind another similar game on the DS. As I say about pretty much everything, if this turns out to be good, I'll buy it! If not, I wont.. ; )

I'm glad games like this (or should I say 'game' like this, as I can't think of any others in the pipeline) are still being made. Let's hope it's as good as it could potentially be...
