E3: Tekken 6 has beat-'em-up campaign
With a story, guns, robots and co-op.
Namco Bandai has unveiled a beat-'em-up campaign mode for Tekken 6 at E3.
Think third-person action but with the characters of Tekken stomping around, battering enemies, unravelling a proper story and even using guns and giant robots as well as their assorted bag of martial arts attacks.
This Scenario Campaign can be tackled alone or online with a friend, and the further characters progress the stronger they will become.
Eurogamer TV has a video of the Scenario Campaign
and it looks odd in motion; these characters with their clunky wooden legs and shuffles don't appear well-suited to open levels, exploration and crowd control.
But they are designed to go head-to-head, which they will - in destructible environments where players can be thrown through walls and floors.
Tekken 6 is out on PS3 and Xbox 360 this autumn.

Tekken 3's force mode has been the best.

Yes, you can argue that they are meant to played against real people but then you could say the same thing about sports games but that doesn't stop them from having career modes that add longevity. One of the main reasons SoulCalibur remains my favourite fighting franchise is because it is one of the few games to offer a decent and lengthy single player mode. Tekken 6 has become a whole lot more interesting for me now with this news. Good old Namco.

This mode in Tekken has always been rubbish. It's no Streets of Rage II that's for sure.

Devil Within in T5 just came across as shit to me though. There was a similar thing in Mortal Kombat Armageddon too which I also found rather rubbish. Don't know if it's just me not liking these modes or that they genuinely aren't up to much.

I'd never played a Street Fighter game until IV, I bought to see what all the fuss was about, but I just wasn't impressed at all. Sorry. Seemed very old school and, thus, dated to me and I utterly despise the visual style, it's horrible. Not for me at all, I'm afraid.
(So if anyone's interested in buying SF IV for the PS3 for, say, £20 + P&P then send me a message otherwise I'll trade it in at GAME next month!)

if you hate the visual style so much, surely you would have been put off when you looked at the screenshots on the box? had you not seen any footage of it either?
