Crackdown DLC live

Keys to the City await.

The two downloadable content packs and title update for Crackdown are now available on Xbox Live.

The full banana will cost you 800 Microsoft points (GBP 6.80 / EUR 9.30) and gives you new vehicles, weapons, game types and achievements. Or you can grab the free pack that boasts a comprehensive cheat mode, an improved garage, tweaked time trials and new trophy awards.

There's also a host of updates to the game in general, from improved targeting, fixed ramp trucks and the option to repopulate the world with gangs and kingpins once you've beaten them all.

And if you don't want to fork out for the full download bundle right away, then simply join someone who has it in multiplayer mode and try some of the modes out for yourself.

We gave you a full list of what to expect yesterday.

Those of you who like to decorate things can also enjoy a new theme for 150 points, as well as some picture packs for varying prices.

Have fun, Agent.

Chuffing fantastic. Loving all the little improvements as well as the new stuff.

So good that I've actually forked out for a points card for the first time. Developers take note - this is the way to do DLC.
  • GamesConnoisseur #4 5 years ago

    Downloading both now..

Damn DLC, I am an addict needing to have complete set of everything!

We need DLCA support group and I ll stand up 'haven't done DLC for 24 hours' and everyone in there will claps.

  • XdarXideX #5 5 years ago

I know what you mean! It's a bitch! Bought the GRAW2 content already this week and now this? I guess at least I will have most of the weekend to play all this stuff!
  • spliffhead #6 5 years ago

With good content like this is it officially the end of the "Horse Armour" period?
  • quantumsheep #7 5 years ago

  • spongebob #8 5 years ago

Spliffhead, no, there will be Horse Armour available for Crackdown later. It costs 1600 points.

LMAO! There ought to be an EG group made for those who just keep buying DLC, but want to stop (honest, guv!)

WAS NOT expecting this today, at all. I'm glad I recently bought a points card (did you know, they come in two varieties now - 2100 and 1000 denominations.) Time to get downloading.

Now after reading the list yesterday, that price is f'cking spot on. Well done MS and RTW. A lesson for future DLC vendors right there.
  • PearOfAnguish #11 5 years ago

    Nice. There goes my weekend.
  • Kon #12 5 years ago

I've just signed in to look for the new content but the only thing i found was a "four-play" free pack of four new agents. Anyone else having problems locating the other new stuff?
  • Uncle_Fishboy #13 5 years ago

I don't like to rain on peoples parade and group hugs but I think 800 points for some races, a couple of forgettable kill each other in as quick as possible games and a few extra cars and weapons is quite alot. I love Crackdown but can't convince myself I'm getting a good deal here. I will buy it but I shall limit myself to only 2 bags of crisps next week to make myself feel better.

What an excellent upgrade to an already great package - Interestingly, I just did the FFA download and then the Get Busy one - the second DL finished downloading in about 2 secs - Are the two packs one and the same, with the payment unlocking the second part of the upgrade?

All seemed to install nicely - but no time to play. Back to work... :/
  • FmCUK #15 5 years ago

Jebus. Didn't expect this so soon. This is awesome.
  • quantumsheep #16 5 years ago

May go home for lunch for a quick go...

you need to access it via the in game download menu AFAIK
  • Machetazo #19 5 years ago

"you need to access it via the in game download menu AFAIK"

Nah, it's listed in the new additions section, too. Fantastic content here. I especially like the new Agency Dirt Buggy. It takes the idea of an "ATV" to scary degrees!

"Are the two packs one and the same, with the payment unlocking the second part of the upgrade?"

Most likely, as the menu lists both packs as taking precisely the same amount of HD space. I was surprised when it just jumped really quickly to dling the Blacksite: Area 51 demo. You can always check what's enabled in Crackdown, in terms of DLC, by selecting the Downloads option from the Front menu.

I'd be happy to pay 1600 for horses in Crackdown, but only if I can have the harpoon gun in Barbie horse adventures.
  • quantumsheep #21 5 years ago

Played it (briefly but for too long, if you get what I mean) at lunchtime.

Only really had time to check out the new vehicles (and impound some!) but the buggy is awesome for stunts. Great great stuff.

Also found 3 orbs while I was just mucking about, so the larger 'ping' radius seems to work very well too!

    Nice one!
  • dr.glyndwr #22 5 years ago

I bet I know why it's only one download... if you co-op with someone who has the premium content when you don't, you get access to some of the features e.g. the new vehicles. For that to work you need the game data on your local install. So, they bundle the game data, locked and encrypted, with the free DLC so everyone can co-op... that's very clever.
  • jellyhead #23 5 years ago

Careful guys, there's a suspicion that the DLC may corrupt your save games.
  • Fyzzu #24 5 years ago

800 points for the rest of the achievements? Good as the DLC is, that's still kinda shitty.
  • geepersd #25 5 years ago

@Fyzzu - I thought the rest of the achievments were doable with the free download and the paid for gives access to extra achievments above and beyond the stock 1000
  • quantumsheep #26 5 years ago

    @Jellyhead

I tried out the free city mode first and chose a different agent to the one I've been using on campaign.

When I exited that and went back to my campaign game, the agent had changed into the Free City mode one.

Almost had a heart attack till I saw my stats were intact!

Not had any 'problems' other than that - do you have any more info?
  • Fyzzu #27 5 years ago

@geepersd - Ah, you might be right. I'm downloading the Area 51 demo at the moment, so I'm not gonna get to Crackdown until a bit later tonight, but that's how I read it.
  • The-Bodybuilder #28 5 years ago

    BALLS.

Only available for gold members (the free pack).
So I guess I have to wait a week or so. :(
  • alpha-0ne #29 5 years ago

Tired it all out no save game corruption at all

    Great DLC
  • login_name #30 5 years ago

"Actually there IS save game corruption.

If you would like to see it in action, don't purchase the full set of DLC, just the free stuff, then play online with someone who HAS purchased the full lot and has activated the cheat mode, then let the game autosave.

TA-DA! Your save is now fucked. :) "

Yup, this just happened to a friend. He joined my game without the 'expensive' pack. Now his save is foobar, unless he joins my game. All his stats and orbs are reset in solo, but in co-op it's all fine.
  • Kon #31 5 years ago

Still no sight of the DLC on my machine. Somehow i suspect that me being based in Portugal has something to do with this... :(

*edit* Sorted. It WAS the portuguese gamertag tag. A newly created UK tag just gave me access to all the new Crackdown content (and lots other stuff too).

  • Fyzzu #32 5 years ago

Yeah - it's unavailable in Portugal, Germany, and Japan, apparently. Different/stricter rating systems, or something?

Free stuff seems like good fun (barring my managing to crash it after about half an hour, but that really was my own silly fault) and there's a workaround to prevent save data getting wrecked now, but I'm a bit miffed at banners for the paid stuff being everywhere. In my weapons inventory, the weapons are there, but locked; selecting them tells me I have to buy the pack. The new mission start zones for the extra modes are on the map, but if I touch the zone, it tells me I have to buy the pack. Makes me think I'm playing a shareware game with constant nag screens, or an XBLA game I haven't bought yet. I'm sure I'm going to end up buying the content just to stop it feeling like I'm playing an incomplete game!

I know, I know - I'm never happy. A very minor complaint, though; believe me, I'm well pleased with what I've played of it :)
  • foamy #33 5 years ago

Kon, I'm portuguese, but I'm using an UK gamertag. Didn't know Portugal had those kind of restrictions on DLC. Usually they don't give a damn about what we play :X

Btw, wasn't MS going to ban accounts that were not registered in the proper country? I've downloaded the Crackdown DLC, and a lot of other free DLC with my UK account since the update :|
  • the_dudefather #34 5 years ago

I have the pay pack, my friend has the pay pack, we played co-op, now my save is gone (or to be more precise, my orbs and agency supply points, but boss deaths remain)

im a sad panda, but at least the DLC extendd the life of the game (by making me to play through again)
  • Kon #35 5 years ago

    @foamy

Yep, i've even asked around Major Nelson's blog as i completely fail to see the reasoning behind cutting Portugal out of the new DLC. Didn't get an answer though. Makes zero sense to me knowing that censorship is (fortunately) something that we don't see around here.

Since the release of the DLC, and in effect the spring update, i've been able to log in to the marketplace in Spain, Japan, the US and the UK, so if MS are going to crackdown on this sort of activity they have yet to do so. Though i have to say that i've not been able to purchase any points with my credit card outside of Portugal and Spain.
