Conan, Simpsons demos on Live

Giant statues and pectorals.

Demos for The Simpsons and Conan are now available to download from Xbox Live Marketplace.

The Simpsons sampler weighs in at 442.71MB and challenges you with stopping the giant Lard Lad statue from rampaging around Springfield. But it won't be easy as Homer and Bart must fend off waves of Krusty dolls while avoiding the nasty laser attacks and stomping feet of the statue.

Or you can whip your clothes off and flex your way around Hyboria in the Conan demo, which bulges at 483.84MB. Here you'll be able to play for 15 minutes and witness a few short video segments.

The Simpsons will be released on 2nd November, and you can read our first impressions of it over on the front page now.

Conan, on the other hand, is already out. It got a solid thumbs-up from us, although we would suggest waiting for it to drop in price a little before picking it up. Read our Conan review to find out why.

Thats exactly what i was going to do! Wait for Conan to drop in price then buy it.

Although the 360 demo turned me off somewhat.

I agree Donnie, was having to restrain myself from buying it after reading some of the reviews, and was really looking forward to checking out the demo... Which I did, last night, only to find that it was stiff, awkward and not much fun at all :-(

Still, another £40 saved I guess...

really, just dont bother with either.

And as a far as im concerned, 7/10 is generally a solid thumbs down in my book.

Theres only so many hours of the day to play videogames and until ive played through every single 8, 9 & 10 game then whats the point of dipping into the 7's?

I didn't care much for the Conan demo, but I'm almost positive the voice acting for the princess/queen chick in the opening intro was done by my favourite sci-fi babe, Claudia Black (Farscape, SG1).

I guess a sexy voice isn't quite enough to convince me to buy a game, but she comes damn close :p.

@afghan_jones: Because at the end of the day every review score is entirely subjective. I can think of numerous games that have been hammered by reviewers and I've ended up really enjoying them.

But of course be aware that "demos are a total and utter waste of time in that it's usually a) in an unfinished, unoptimised state, b) from a really early point in the game when it's too easy and gives no impression of the depth."... ;)

Simpsons is fun, made me laugh a bunch of times which is more than I can say for the majority of the previous games.

"Bart's been knocked down, but just like Chumbawumba, we expect him to get back up again"

    Excellent!

The only major issue I had with Conan was with the camera, either I'm a complete biff and could couldn't find the camera controls or there wasn't any. I like to see whats up ahead rather than whats behind me.

@miths, I'm glad you said that I knew I recognised the voice and it was driving me crazy

Simpsons was fun but I'll wait for the bargin bucket.

Miths: your right it is Claudia Black (and she is not just in the intro)

Conan is ok rental (played the full game) but not worth full price

Simpsons looks nice and it is actually funny.

    TINY SPOILER

Is it hard or am I crap? I can pop open the first panel, but the second is too high for me to jump to - help?
