Online multiplayer demos for Aliens vs. Predator and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 await you on the PlayStation Store today. They're both free, so there's no reason not to give these two newcomers a spin.

There's also a free sampler for brilliantly inventive PSP game Half-Minute Hero. Do try it, our review will explain why.

Today's other big arrival is Final Fantasy VIII, which is meant for PSP but can also be played on PS3. And this costs eight pounds, conveniently.

So they managed to release FFVIII. Such a shame my original discs won't run on the PS3. Not sure if its worth the ten euros to replay it.

Been waiting for FF8 for a while too. Hubby loves FF7, but never tried 8, so hoping to get him into it as well. With any luck, FF9 will follow, as that was the only one I never tried.

Loved FFVIII. In a sense, I might have even enjoyed it more than FF VII. The push a button when a hit connects mechanic made grinding easier to stomach.

TBH the AvP demo is only DM, which imho is the weakest mode. Aliens and marines attacking there own class is just wrong and it was just a crazy free for all. It got a bit better once me and 2 mates stuck together as marines despite the rules, but still didn't give a great impression of the MP side of the game. Hopefully the SP campaigns will make up for it :S

I'm in two minds whether to buy FF8, on one hand I want to revel in the nostalgia (I remember buying the guide for it), on the other the Draw Magic system is an absolute pain in the arse. I'll probably buy it regardless, slap it on me PSP and take it to work.

AVP worked fantastically for me! Downloaded in 5 minutes this morning and murdered about 6 marines and two aliens on my first go. Predator rocks!! I suppose the servers were under pressure last night

bfbc2 was decent but felt just like more of the same to me. which is no bad thing.

avp was shite though... i waited for ages then got into one game. i was lone predator and it felt weak. no laser thingy no net nothing. just melee.. kept getting killed by marines too easilly [while invisible] which didnt feel right. was too bright too. then game ended and we were all booted and had to wait again.. hardly inspriing me to purchase

AVP demo is fun, yes it is weird shooting marines, but watching two aliens mash each other up while you hose them down is pretty funny. Predators are still sh*t scary though - as it should be

I tried one of the earlier demos of HmH (where you summon monsters and hide under an umbrella), and didn't like it. However this version was really fun, played it a few times each level (which is what, 90 seconds per map!), and it's definitely a purchase now.

Strange question, but if I own FF7, is it worth getting it on the PSN for my psp?
