He's baaaaaaaaack.

Escape Goat 2, the sequel to the XBLIG and PC puzzle/platformer Escape Goat, has been granted a release on 10th September, developer Ian Stocker has revealed on Twitter.

Developer MagicalTimeBean has teased a new garment for the mouse to wear. I hope it's a hat, but I'd settle for a tiny vest.

It can be pre-ordered for PC at Escape Goat 2's official site for 20 per cent off at $7.99 (about 5) before it goes up to $9.99 (about 6.50) upon release.

Where the first Escape Goat was a series of single-screen puzzle and platforming challenges, this spruced up sequel will have a more interconnected "metroidvania" layout with a world map and over 100 rooms to explore. It also contains hand-drawn HD art by TigerStyle's Randy O'Connor, who worked on the gorgeous Waking Mars and Spider: The Secret of Bryce Manor.

A level editor will be added too, though it likely won't be ready until shortly after launch.

Mac and Linux versions are planned, but no release window has been announced. When asked about other consoles on Twitter, Stocker replied, "No XBLIG primarily because the 360 is being sunsetted. We'll see about other consoles."

Fans of the series can help the game find a new audience by voting for Escape Goat 2 on Steam Greenlight.
