Doom 3 BFG Edition won't support Oculus Rift at launch after all

Kickstarter backers offered replacements or refund.

Kickstarter members who backed the snazzy Oculus Rift VR headset have been informed that Doom 3 BFG Edition will not be supported at launch as promised.

Those who backed the project were promised a copy of the game as "an extra thank you".

Supporters can now choose from a number of replacement options instead.

The first of these is a $20 Steam Wallet credit (which could still be used to buy Doom 3 without Oculus Rift support).

Alternatively, a $25 Oculus Store credit, for use with accessories and merchandise.

Or backers can ask for a full refund of their pledge.

Those who supported the project can log into their Oculus Order Manager to choose the alternative that suits them.

The first batch of Oculus Rift kits are set to roll off the production line in a matter of days, following a small delay from December. The device's Kickstarter raised a barnstorming $2.43 million (£1.61m) last September, far more than its $250,000 asking price.
