PlayStation Vita: the other 74 games

To be available by March 2012?

Sony has named 74 work in progress PlayStation Vita games.

Add these to the 26 PlayStation Vita Japan launch titles and you have the 100 games Sony touted for release by March 2012. The official document doesn't mention when these 74 games will be released.

Also, to call all of them games is a bit strong. Some teach languages, others are slot machine simulations, and so on. Most will likely never head West.

Furthermore, a significant amount of them don't yet have names. They're referred to simply as "genre" by "company".

Notably, there's no new Monster Hunter game. The only Vita Monster Hunter game confirmed so far is an enhanced port of Monster Hunter Portable 3rd. And even that title is absent from both the launch line-up and "work in progress" list.

Monster Hunter's absence is even more glaring when put next to Nintendo's announcement of Monster Hunter 4 on 3DS.

The full list of the 74 work in progress Vita games is below.

no title (wokring title!) - is shaping up really good, it might become the system seller sony needs for the success of the vita
  • Bertie Verified Senior Staff Writer, Eurogamer.net #2 8 months ago

I can't believe that all of these will be out by Marc, what with some not even having a proper name yet. I can believe that a significant amount of these games will be available by then, though.
  • Eraysor #3 8 months ago

The 3DS is pretty screwed! (and I own one!)
  • DarpaChief #4 8 months ago

Looks like this will be a must-buy for RPG fans then. And fans of "new genre".
  • X201 #5 8 months ago

    @David

Nah, the publicity surrounding No title - adventure will steal its thunder, and it'll end up in the bargain bin inside a month.

    Edit:

Although New title - new genre (what?) could be the dark horse of the bunch.

So it will get launched here in March...

... and we will have over 50 launch titles probably (maybe even peaking higher - near 100)...

... well the publishers who hope to "shove out some crap" early on in a lifecycle of a console are gonna have a wake-up call here!

This is strong - very strong... my poor 3DS with its equally crappy battery life is weeping quietly in the corner.

Is it possible that Sony have listened too much to the developers and made the Vita TOO easy to program for?

Bodes well for the inevitable PS4.
  • Bertie Verified Senior Staff Writer, Eurogamer.net #8 8 months ago

No no no, it's "Next Education [Test preparation for certified administrative procedures specialists]" that Vita is spoiling us with.
  • NotSoSlim #9 8 months ago

Can never make a device too easy to program for and that bodes extremely well for PS4
  • Bertie Verified Senior Staff Writer, Eurogamer.net #10 8 months ago

A Harry Slotter panchinko game seems obvious to me.

  • JedEvangelion #11 8 months ago

What's happened to Little Deviants on that list?

  • Widge #12 8 months ago

    Literally salivating at:

    New Action RPG
    New Action-Adventure game
    New Simulation RPG
    New Fantasy RPG
    TBA
    No title
    New shooting
  • iriihutoR48 #13 8 months ago

@JedEvangelion: Little Deviants is a launch title and hence not on the list.
  • wizlon #14 8 months ago

I'm really looking forward to Hello Kitty to Issho Block Crash 5, especially after the disappointment of 4. I'm hoping it's be like the 2nd one, that was the best. Just one question, what is it?
  • ricpamiwor #15 8 months ago

As long as FIFA is somewhere near the console version I'm happy. The train journey to London won't be long enough then!
  • Toothball #16 8 months ago

List is a little vague, but I expect there'll be something in there to keep me busy. I was quite keen for Sound Shapes already.
  • KayJay #17 8 months ago

Out of these and the other 26 Launch titles. Anyone spot a FPS, like a Resistance, Killzone or COD?

    /going blind :/
  • shirotsku #18 8 months ago

Wonder if some of them are bailed PS3 or PSP games or something?
  • Mister-Wario #19 8 months ago

Wow. This is shaping up to be one heck of a console. The Sudoku is a good idea: I'd quite like Scrabble on it too. I have a PS1 disc of it. :[
  • danhese007 #20 8 months ago

    Incomplete list.
  • HyperTails #21 8 months ago

Looking forward to seeing what the EU launch and upcoming release schedule will be. This might be good for Japan, but a lot will stay just there.
  • Muddtallica #22 8 months ago

Dunno about you, but when I pick up a PS Vita, "Next Education [Test preparation for certified administrative procedures specialists]" will be top of my shopping list.
  • SpaceMonkey77 #23 8 months ago

Very vague list, but it bodes well for PSVita. Can almost hear the coffin lid slamming shut on 3DS.

Very few western games in that list, but that will change for our release. March is a good release time too, as it'll give me time to get over all my xmas games overload.

Think'll have Uncharted and Fifa at launch, thanks.
  • Ryze #24 8 months ago

Yeah right, thsi is Sony. These PSV games will be out sometime before 2018.
  • BartsBlue #25 8 months ago

Okay, I see a lot of jokes concerning semi-announced titles (TBA, unknown, etc.), but frankly, this list looks solid.

Uncharted: Golden, Persona 4 Golden, Little big Planet, Lumines, Stardust (not here, but I remember it shown during Vita unveiling), Wipeout 2048, Final Fantasy X, Dragon's Crown, new Shin Megai Tensei title from Atlus, new RPG from Level 5, Gravity Rush - these titles do it for me. They mean lots of quality gaming in 2012 on Vita alone.

Isn't sad that the Vita will have more games at launch than the 3ds will have by then at all?
  • -cerberus- #28 8 months ago

    Zero horror games, as usual.
  • Osahi #29 8 months ago

I see Shin Megami Tensei. That's all I had to see

Oh man with 100's of PSone/PSP games on me download list...... broadband is screwed..
  • Muddtallica #32 8 months ago

Uh, I'm noticing some commenters here seem to be looking on this as a launch list, or a list of games that will be out in the first year? I can't see any evidence of that; this is separate from the 26-game launch roster, EG says it doesn't know when they're out, and some of these games don't event have a NAME yet.

This is a good list, but let's not get it in our heads that this is what you'll be playing on PSV two weeks after launch. I feel that was part of the issue with 3DS - everyone just assumed that Kid Icarus, Zelda, StarFox, Metal Gear etc would all be launch titles, and the fact that they weren't helped to feed into the (overblown, IMO) perception that 3DS "has no games". Would be a shame to see PSV getting skittled by equally unrealistic expectations.

  • GundamJehutyKai #37 8 months ago

Super robot Taisen?? SOLD!!! The vita is region free, right?
  • Marshall2008 #38 8 months ago

7 games of interest. Guess the rest are for the Japanese market?

Yep, Sony stated that it would be region free.

The PSP was sold to me by Monster Hunter. The Vita will be the same.

Which means that Sony better give Capcom the biggest kick up the arse.
  • gustave154 #44 8 months ago

    just needs Gran Turismo...
  • ballshock #45 8 months ago

    Final fantasy 10!!!!!
  • Doctor_What #46 8 months ago

'Hello Kitty to Issho Block Crash 5' sounds like a very cute car crash involving a household pet.
  • silversun #47 8 months ago

    Ys: Foliage Ocean in Celceta

    New ys game.

Its a shame some old classics like breath of fire and suikoden are still in limbo , maybe in future might happen.
Plus have to hope these games make it over here in first place . not all will be good but sure some will be good.
Ther is still intrest from some people for the japanese games, despite everything i read on the internet, so hopefully its the portable systems that will keep them alive over here.
  • exenpipp #48 8 months ago

I think I'll have to buy two PS vitas to play all of these games... Damn!

Utter rubbish. Clearly you have a very low IQ/EQ and/or were drunk and/or high when you typed this. new title (new genre!) is looking the far superior game. How can you not see that as it is what the game industry is crying out for and it will shift the Vita in drones. Don't get me wrong i'm not saying that no title (working title!) isn't shaping up good but i know for a fact it won't get close to the genius that is new title (new genre!)
  • amiga_dude #50 8 months ago

FIFA (working title) - sport football (EA Sports)

May be so bold to say that will be named FIFA12/13/14/15/16/17/18/19/20 as it's final name.
  • Brianstorm #51 8 months ago

While I will be getting Vita day one, it does seem careless of Sony to lose Monster Hunter to Nintendo as well as not securing the next Dragon Quest game....
  • TudeScud #52 8 months ago

The article's a bit sloppy, but interesting news, nonetheless. "[W]ork in progress" should be 'work-in-progress', or better yet just call them 'works in-progress for the Playstation Vita', rather than calling them games several times just to add to the silliness of the article. There was a typo ("Alpja Unit", should no doubt be 'Alpha Unit) and you had something going with the alphabetical order (in terms of publisher) until you dropped Atlus (Index Holdings?) in the middle. I would add capitals to the genre titles, but that's just a minor format niggle.

OT: I wish they would start releasing Super Robot Wars worldwide, but I might just break-down and import one. I hope service oriented stuff manages to work outside of Japan, too.
