Sony announces budget US PSP packs

One final software push?

Sony is repackaging a number of first party PSP titles in the US at a budget price point.

As detailed on the PlayStation Blog, a range of Dual Packs go on sale this week for $14.99 (£9.40) a pop.

You can pick up Secret Agent Clank and Daxter; Syphon Filter: Logan’s Shadow and Killzone Liberation; and Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror and SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs: Fireteam Bravo.

A European release hasn't been mentioned, but seeing as Sony last week confirmed we're getting those PS3 twofers, it doesn't seem entirely out of the realm of possibility.

The PSP's successor, the PlayStation Vita, is due out either late this year or early next.

PSP is currently looking like the PS2 did a few years ago - amazing catalogue of great games at pretty decent prices :)

I'd be more interested if they released some of these PSP games for the PS3 or PSN store; there's no way I was ever going to buy the thing for the paltry selection of games and ports that it offered. I'd really love to get the Patapon trilogy, and Valkyria Chronicles 2 & 3.

Now this question I want an answer too. This year!... awesome Im ready for it.

If its next year it means I can afford to get a 3D tv right now.

    Release date plix! :D

Sony ought to make use of the upcoming Vita to make it clear that psp games bought now on psn will run on Vita so you could accumulate psp games now that you can transfer to Vita later. Would make UMD games less appealing though knowing you couldn't transfer them. Same is true of ps1 games.

    SpaceDelete = Bellend

Edit - And BonzoBanana - Yes you are very right, they really should let people know, according to wikipedia the vita upscales the psp games too, and some titles will also support both sticks. (i'm guessing ps1 games?)

To be fair, I did get Secret Agent Clank a few months back for a fiver so it wouldn't break the bank if you got them separately. I imagine it'd be nice to get these double-packs now.

Despite being overshadowed by the DS the PSP has some wonderful titles, and I agree with flying_pig: now's the time to get them because most of them cost practically nothing. I must admit, I find it somewhat annoying when the equivalent titles on DS (i.e. quality games like Professor Layton) stay at really high prices years after launch.

mr2ange: I imagine the right stick would mainly be used for camera controls. I assume that since the Dualshock wasn't standard hardware in the PS1 from the start that most games persisted in using shoulder buttons for the camera: Spyro supported analogue but still had shoulder-controlled cameras. Ape Escape was the first game to require both sticks: it'd be interesting to see if that got a re-release on PSV. It was actually repackaged as Ape Escape P but tweaked to accommodate the one nub.

I really want to play Killzone Liberation and Killzone 1 (PS2). Hopefully GG will release a HD collection for PS3 as I sold my PS2 and I'm not a portable gamer

It would be nice if the site to change my PSN password worked so I could claim my 2 free games for my PSP, what with only having a week left to do so.

Try using the Qriocity service to reset your password. That's been more reliable and both it and PSN accounts are linked.

Thanks very much for that, great advice.
