Take-Two casting-call outs GTA character

GTAV caught red handed?

A private Take-Two casting call is advertising for an actor to portray James Pedeaston - a character from Grand Theft Auto IV and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

Until now, Take-Two casting calls only a had a theoretical link to the Grand Theft Auto series.

The suggestion is, of course, that the game Take-Two is casting for is Grand Theft Auto V.

Pedeaston, "a man-boy love activist who just got released from an Indonesian prison", is between 40 and 45 years old.

Pedeaston hosted the WCTR radio show that can be heard in GTA: San Andreas. In GTAIV, Pedeaston is arrested by Indonesian police for suspected child molesting.

The other characters being cast alongside Pedeaston are Matthew, Jose, Samatha and Anthony.

Matthew, "a liberal young male who believes in a conspiracy made by republicans to undermine America" is between 18 and 25 years old.

Jose, "a white creepy man who thinks that technology is a poison against the wilderness" is between 30 and 40 years old.

And Anthony, "a young, fast-talking boy fighting for the right of young boys to drink alcohol and have sex" is between 10 and 15 years old.

Evidence for Grand Theft Auto V has been mounting fast. Should Rockstar be preparing an announcement, there will be no better place for it than super-show E3 in June.

I assume they started work on V straight after IV - I doubt there's anyone that didn't.

And you lot where fussing about duke nukem , seriously these some most controversal descriptions i have seen in a video game , rockstar at least are fairly responsible with there games though.

Seriously? They have NAMBLA activists in GTA? I never knew that (maybe it's cos I never get further than a few hours into each title before getting bored)

more likely 4-2 than 5, like they did with 3 on PS2

I really liked GTA back in the Vice city days. I liked Rockstars comical criticism to (American) society.

But judging (prematurely surely) from this typecasting, it seems they are heading in the juvenile and silly direction. I mean, a 15 yo kid who wants to get drunk and get laid? Really? I thought GTA was supposed to cater the mature audience and not so much kids. A (possible) pedophile? Really...what the f*ck?

Well, As I said above, can't really judge now, but this doesn't bode well.

I always assumed they would be making more full games using the same engine. Kind of like we had GTA 3, then Vice City and San Andreas before GTA IV came about.

GTA IS AWESOME, any rumours and annoucements are FAR MORE interesting than 90% of other annoucements and games recently. cant wait for this!

Don't Rockstar have a No e3 announcements policy?
  • X201 #10 1 year ago

    @DutchDemons

All of the above are more than likely just background characters for the radio discussion shows etc.

I really hope they try to do something different this time. No doubt they will use the Noire tech, which will be a great addition, but I got fairly bored with IV way before the end (as did many it seems) which I'll put down to the location it was set in. I missed the exploration of San Andreas' sprawling countrysides, which was full of hidden quirks and as a gamer of 28 years, it still remains as one of my most immersive experiences ever.

Judging by the casting calls, it seems were set for another US city, with a plenty of contoversial character backgrounds which will no doubt get the lobbiests all hot under the collar. I'd love to see Rockstar take a gamble and set the game in a big city outside of the States.

i just can't wait for the reveal trailers and that cause they are usually brilliant.

For starters, like X201 says, they are clearly characters for one of the talkshow programmes. Secondly, you have played the previous GTA games right? So you'll know they won't be justifying paedophila, but ripping the absolute piss out of it and paedos. Something which needs to be done quite frankly, and no one will do it as sharply or as viciously as Rockstar are capable of.

You sound like all those people who complained about that Brass Eye episode, without actually understanding what exactly it was trying to say.

well, good to see the parrots all agree opinions are not to be displayed on a public forum. Thank god and eurogamer for negging the hell out of an opinion. I don't see why my opinion can be deemed so appaling that 13 people have to neg it.

Clearly these are not main characters. I'm just saying it's a little childish to go down that route (character wise, background or not). Yes I have played all of the gta's (except London, pardon me). I'm well acquainted with the type of humor normally displayed in a GTA game. I'm just touching on the possibility I may have matured enough not to think that Rockstar is 'smart' in their humor. I used to think that they were, but they seem to be stuck in the same place.

Maybe i should have seen that coming, as i though gta 4 was dull and hollow. Yes, I went there. Opinion police be alarmed!

If GTA5 actually gets announced this year I may die of excitement.

    GTA4 was absolutely brilliant.

    @DutchDemons

I would fully understand your point, if Rockstar were thinking of paedophilia minigames, or having this character dole out missions were you are kidnapping kids. But they obviously aren't.

Basically, what you are saying is that no one should ever reference paedophilia or the likes no matter what they are trying to say? How is that at all 'mature'? Why shouldn't they be allowed to profess a strongly anti-paedophilia stance by demeaning the fuck out of them? What exactly is "childish" about that?

Like I said before, you sound exactly like those who demanded that Brass Eye be taken off the air because Chris Morris had the temerity to mention paedophilia, while conveniently glossing over the fact that he was outright taking the deserved piss out of them and showing them up for what they are, as well as the media and general pubic's panicked frenzy over the subject.

Are you secretly telling us something?

Ah, once again Rockstar seems to be going for believable three-dimensional characters, I wonder how many accolades they'll get for their mature storytelling this time.
  • SAMagic #23 1 year ago

I'm enjoying finding out the details, but the backlash here is much ado over nothing.

'Bully will be a Columbine massacre simulator and also will turn kids gay.'

'GTA IV will let you play an Arab who blows up American planes.'

Each time it turned out to be completely incorrect, with Rockstar showing plenty of thought and tact in their characterisation and story (though I suppose they rode the controversy train).

Get over it, guys. Let's wait for more details before jumping to conclusions. This could simply be for a radio show in GTA 5.
  • spekkeh #24 1 year ago

@DutchDemons: keep voicing your opinion and ignore the juvenile tossers that neg you for having one.

@SomaticSense: I hope he was secretly saying you're a twat. Keep your insinuations to yourself.

  • DutchDemons #27 1 year ago

    @somaticsense

I think you are out of line here mate. First of all, no clue whatever the hell Brass Eye is. I suppose it has something to do with this matter, otherwise i am fully oblivious to your point.

Maybe my sentences are too long or too complex. But i was and am voicing my opinion on the presumed (by me!) direction the 'humor' is taking. Humor specified to GTA. Jesus christ, i thought that was obvious I think it's a little childish to reel in touchy subjects just for the sake of controversy. I can't see why a game bsed on jacking cars and causing mayhem, should reference to anything to do with pedophilia. Sure they exist, sure they are despicable. Are they needed in GTA. I think not.

Again; I am merely looking into a possible future, should THIS news article be true.

Can't really see why anyone would hate me for voicing concerns. Unless they are overly anxious GTA fans that are convinced they have to defend everything Rockstar does.

Even if, in the end, it turns out that Rockstar wasn't doing that. At all..

Makes you think about some of the people who are so fiercely reacting to just 1 opinion.
  • spekkeh #28 1 year ago

I'm not too bothered by there being a pedophile in the game, in any setting really (either taking the piss, for the purpose of being creepy or even endorsing the character for all I care, well if it suits the story that is). I'm more concerned with the fact that Rockstar only does easy stereotypes in these games, which doesn't gel at all with their serious take on the genre. They're dressing it up while going full retard at the same time. I think the 'Why I hate... RDR' made a compelling argument against this.
  • Spekingur #29 1 year ago

How come we still haven't seen the main character as an irish ginger haired mobster yet?
  • comissars_handgun #30 1 year ago

    Yes. Yes!

Just make it San Andreas 2 please.
