River City Ransom 2 in the works
22-year-old NES favourite gets a sequel.
A sequel to fondly-remembered NES side-scroller River City Ransom – or Street Gangs as it was known in PAL-land – is currently in development, 22 years after the original hit the shelves.
According to Andriasang, Japanese developer Miracle Kidz has roped in members of the original development team to work on the game, which is apparently due for release on console this summer, with a PC release to follow in 2012.
There's no word on exactly which consoles it's targeting, but its current project, Downtown Smash Dodgeball, is available now on Xbox Live Indie Games with a WiiWare port also in the works, if that's any indication of intent.
Check out the clip below to remind yourself what the game looked like, or you can download it on the Wii's Virtual Console for 500 Points.

This is, somewhat sadly, the best gaming news I've heard for months.
