Mass Effect 2 Arrival DLC date outed?

Plus, BioWare shows new screens.

Mass Effect 2's Arrival DLC releases on 29th March, if a new leak is to be believed.

Play.tm claims it was handed the release date by "retail sources".

The DLC pack, which was first hinted at back in February thanks to leaked PlayStation 3 trophies, is thought to set the scene for Mass Effect 3, detailing The Reapers invasion of Earth.

BioWare has officially confirmed nothing yet but has been publishing ambiguous screen shots on its Twitter feed over the past few days, the latest of which was prefaced with "Another Mass Effect 2 screenshot Arrived this morning...". Take a look at all three images released so far below.

We've asked publisher EA to shed a little light on the situation. Watch this space...

Already sold my copy! Waiting for ME3.

Really? I mean really? If you bought the game new, how many times would you have dusted it off for yet another DLC, and how much would you have spent?

(if anyone can be bothered totting it up I wouldn't mind knowing, not enough to want to do it myself, obv)

I'd rather have all this in one game as it's starting to provide a disjointed experience.

Why would a retail source know the publication date of a piece of DLC?
  • DazzeL190 #6 1 year ago

I can't wait - this is an awesome way to tease in the third game and keep Mass Effect's plot on your mind.

As for cost - I bought the original for £40 on release and traded it in for around £25 a month later, after completion. I then bought all the DLC cheap at Xmas in the sale - that cost around £10 and I bought a new ME2 copy for £5 from Game in Jan. So I guess my total spend to play all of the ME content is around the £30-35 mark. Not bad!

i also paid a fiver for it from GAME,still hoping for a GOTY/Ultimate edition though hopefully in a few months after this DLC or maybe a few months before ME3

"Why would a retail source know the publication date of a piece of DLC?"

Because it coincides with ME2 Complete Edition?
  • dingo75 #9 1 year ago

So the ME2 "GOTY" version including every DLC should be incoming soon as well.
    Excellent!
  • Inmediasress #10 1 year ago

The only dlc that was worth having for ME2 was the shadow broker.
Maybe this will be worth it as well. Most DLC isn't worth it any way even from the big studios but that's another argument for another time:D.

If you don't like getting DLC then stop moaning and just don't get it. I for one am a massive fan of mass effect and either way plenty of us will be getting this just because, well its mass effect xD

And I personally can't get enough of it. Bring it on Bioware!

    What Sodding_Gamer said.

To all intents and purposes, the PS3 version was a GOTY edition minus this (and a couple of smaller packs and any further) DLC. If they were going to release a GOTY edition on PC and 360 they'd have released an equivalent package when they released the PS3 version. They didn't.

You whining bitches better start shutting the fuck up about a GOTY edition now. If you genuinely are insistent that you won't buy this game until such a version is released, you've already had a long wait, and the third game will be out in a few months. I think you should swallow your DLC issues and just buy the fucking game. Its practically free now brand new anyway, and the DLC has been half price on XBLA several times now.

Who am I kidding, you all either have it or don't want it anyway you freaky trolls...

    @Moribundman

Whoa whoa buddy looks like you have come down with a bad case of fanboy fever. Now take a deep breath close your eyes and pretend your in wonder land. Any way I said that shadow broker was a good addition to the game and maybe this one will be also
but the rest was just garbage mute companions and alternate appearance pack great. Then again it is just my opinion.

Hooray! I'm currently doing my second playthrough of ME2 (FemShep, all DLC), so if this comes along in a week and a half I'll just play it after Shadow Broker :)

In other news, I thought Overlord was very good. Oh, and I bought the Collectors edition at launch, and all the DLC so far (though I picked up Kasumi, Overlord and Shadow Broker in the Christmas XBL sale), and as a big ME fan (who has read the books, and everything), it's been well worth it. If you personally don't think it's worth it, fair play to you, but it's not a universal truth.

So the odds of a Mass Effect Trilogy boxset (inc DLC) are huge then ? Seems a perfectly viable option for 360 at least. As for an interim ME2 GOTY edition, I certainly haven't seen it in the Essentials/Classics/360 version of Platinum yet.......and they were possibly waiting for this final DLC.

    Seems reasonable.
