F1 driver uses videogame for practice
Tonio Liuzzi trains on F1 2010.
Formula 1 racing driver Tonio Liuzzi has revealed that he's planning on using F1 2010 to get a bit of extra race practice.
Liuzzi, who drives for Force India F1 Team, wrote on his ESPN blog, "This week I'm going to be back in the factory so that I can do a day in the simulator to get to know the Korean circuit.
"It'll be the first feeling I get for the new circuit, but I'm also planning to buy the new F1 2010 computer game to get a bit more practice in."
Whatever next? David James picking up a copy of FIFA to brush up on his goalkeeping skills? Oh, wait.
Liuzzi's season could do with a bit of jump-start, so maybe Codemasters' sim is the ticket. He currently sits at 15th in the 2010 table and finished 22nd last year. His best finish was sixth at the 2007 Chinese Grand Prix.
F1 2010 clocked an impressive 8/10 when Eurogamer's Joao Diniz Sanches got behind the wheel earlier this year. It's available now on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

By the way EG: Is there any chance you might be able to take a closer look at the Ferrari Virtual Academy? (http://www.ferrarivirtualacademy.com/gam... I don't know much about all the hyper realistic racing engines out there (netkar, rfactor etc.) but it certainly sounds interesting.

Most of them use heavily modded versions of rFactor or have specially commissioned simulators in house as well.

Tell me about it. He was a bloody tank. Superb drive by him. He was phenomenal to recover from that late pit stop.

Oh, wait I see RobotRocker has beaten me to it. It was F1 2000, not 2001, I worked on it, so I can confirm that story is true.

The game isn't shit, the bugs are the only thing that is wrong with it. Take those aside and you have a really good racer and the best F1 game there has been.

Koboyashi is great fun to watch. Brundle hasn't described him as doing a 'banzai' yet but its only a matter of time.
What are the crash physics like in the game?

IMHO, it could be the greatest fillet steak ever produced, but if it's been overcooked in drowned in peppercorn sauce...

Ah, but we have had Eddie Jordan describing him as doing a "bonsai"!

Anyone watching on the BBC? The sound from Brundle and Legard cut out for a bit and they ended up switching to a different commentary (Five Live I think) Just as Kobayashi pulled one of his "bonsai" moves, and one of the guy's made a Leroy Jenkins reference!!
I just about spat my juice across the room!

And EJ and his "bonsai" comment was comedy gold. He's not as bad as Mark "get orf me barra" Blundell was on ITV, but he could give him a run for his money when it comes to mincing words!

the people ranting about it are simpletons who don't remember what games were like 15 years ago and want the moon on a stick
