UK chart: Toy Story 3 back on top
Modern Warfare 2 surges into second.
Surprisingly good movie tie-in Toy Story 3 has reclaimed top spot in the UK all-formats charts from Blizzard's stupendous PC real-time strategy game StarCraft II.
After debuting at number one last week, StarCraft II, which Eurogamer awarded 9/10, drops down to fourth.
In at two is a resurgent Modern Warfare 2, up six places. Ubisoft's Wii game Dancing on Broadway moves up to third from fourth, and Red Dead Redemption drops from third to fifth.
Ubisoft's Just Dance, Square Enix's Dragon Quest IX, LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4, Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 make up the rest of the top 10.
And yes, New Super Mario Bros. DS is still hanging in there, recording its 170th week in the UK all-formats chart. Mario's DS outing still has a long way to go before it beats the original Rayman, though.

Should be a lesson learned for Square-Enix. When trying to introduce a franchise to a country MARKET THE EFF out of it like Nintendo just did for this one. As much as I hate the current crop of "Dress-up" focused ads, they are working.

MW2's like porn. It's taboo to admit to using it, but sales figures show otherwise.

That's mainly because there's only been one PS3 exclusive in the past 3/4 months and that's Demon's Souls. Even though a brilliant game, it targets a select group of gamers. I don't expect to see Alan Wake, Conviction or Crackdown 2 in the charts by the end of September.

Anyway I just wanna say after finally getting round to starting it this week, it's a real shame Alpha Protocol sank without a trace as it's really quite ace.

@mickey2010, yes but most PS3 exclusives this year have been released withint the first 3 months, and the rest will be released in the last couple of months, I am sure LBP2 and GT will do just fine.
Ps I guess you have taken a look at the monthly software sales for each console as well right, or are you just focussing on exclusives?

DQIX just shows what constant TV advertisment can do. I rememeber a company exec a couple of month ago saying that that type of advertisment doesn't matter anymore. I doubt it would have carried on in the charts with the adverts
