Ubisoft has announced a prequel to Wild West shooter Call of Juarez and plans to release it on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 sometime this year - presumably the latter part, this being the first we've heard of the game.

Dubbed Bound in Blood, the action revolves around Thomas and Ray McCall. Ray, you may recall, is Reverend Ray from the first Call of Juarez; the retired gunslinger turned preacher. Thomas is the other protagonist Billy Candle's stepfather, and we're presumably going back to the brothers' rough and tumble heydays.

The six-shooter fanning and spur-clanging action of the prequel takes place down around the Aztec ruins of Mexico, and we're promised plenty of greed, lust and lawlessness.

Otherwise there's not much information to go on; we don't know, for instance, whether there will be the separate stealth and shooter sections that defined Call of Juarez.

We do know Polish developer Techland will once again be steering the wagon, and that our 8/10 for the first game puts this squarely on our ooh-interesting horizon.
