TumbleSeed review

@Kory It looks very similar to Shrek 'n' Roll as well, from back in the day on XBLA. Interesting to see what this game does that that one doesn't, because it was in no way recommended!

PlayStation digital refund policy in spotlight on BBC's Watchdog tonight

@MeBrains I just told you there's more than one story on Watchdog.

@spamdangled Indeed. Lappin's story is not the only featured, as far as I know.

The Watchdog thing originated on a thread on rllmuk and there's another guy there who should be on it.

@MeBrains If you seriously think that "taken the appropriate action" is Sony not banning the console, then I recommend leaving Dream World and joining the rest of us here in the Real World.

I know it's nice where you are, but you can't stay there forever.

toythatkills

@CliffPromise It wasn't always that way with Microsoft, remember when the FIFA hack first happened and people were having to beg for months for their money back?

They're pretty ace now though, I think they realise they have to be, but Sony aren't there yet because their market position is too strong and so a few ripped-off customers won't matter.
13 3

toythatkills

@MeBrains If it wasn't fraudulent, Sony wouldn't have banned the PS3 that made the purchase, would they?

And as I said before, them banning the PS3 that made the purchase makes this an impossible thing to scam, because for every "free" game you got you'd need a new PS3 to do it.
18 1

toythatkills

@Folant That's not how it works. Your mate would get a free game and get his PS3 banned. Does that really make it worth it?

Nintendo's free-to-play Pokémon Shuffle passes 1m downloads

toythatkills

Pokémon Shuffle is actually good. I know it's fashionable to just slag off any free-to-play game without playing it just because all the other free-to-play games are shit, but Shuffle (while by no means perfect) is well worth your time.

It's every bit as addictive to catch them all as a regular Pokémon game, too, if not more so because it feels like a game and not a chore.

Basically, y'all should try playing it before you lay into it, is all.

Is this any good? Making an RPG in a 16-bit style is easy*, making a good RPG with an interesting and balanced battle system is not easy, whichever era you're emulating. Certainly can't justify buying this just because of what it is so would be interested to hear from those who've played it.

(*if you're able to make reasonably complex games, obviously.)

Road Not Taken review

toythatkills

@thekeats Triple Town is a far better game. RNT is a hell of a mess in comparison.

The review touches on it, but where Triple Town was actually incredibly complex through its simple mechanics, RNT is incredibly complex through its unfathomably complex mechanics, and it's nearly impossible to enjoy as a result. I just don't have a brain that can remember 200 separate items and how each one reacts to every other one, and unless you can do that you'll never get much out of this.

State of Decay dev announces F2P mobile RPG Moonrise

toythatkills

Hey Eurogamer, you could do a great service by not referring to games as "F2P" or "free-to-play" only to review them a few months down the line slagging them off for having an inevitably shitty economy.

You know it's going to be shit, so less of this marketing crap. It's not "F2P," it's anyfuckingthing but free, so call it something else. Maybe it'll catch on. Improve the world.

UK watchdog bans Dungeon Keeper ad, accuses EA of "misleading" customers

toythatkills

"You can earn everything in the game for free!" is such a bullshit argument.

Any advert for a game that desires to refer to itself as "free" should be forced to state how long it will take on average (in months/years) to "earn everything for free!"

I wonder how much interest this piece of shit would get if the advert was clear that playing for free will take you seven and a half boring years to get to the end.

New real-money Xbox dash raises game prices

toythatkills

@FireMonkey They're beta-testing the stability of their dashboard, not their business practices.

If the prices or conversion rate is adjusted it's going to be because of people having "shit fits" rather than a beta-tester politely pointing out the flaw in the conversion rate on a bug reporting forum that no one from Microsoft will even bother to read.

Ooooh, it's the old Colin McRae font, exciting!

I'd love a good pure rally game like CM used to be, where you had to prioritise repairs between stages and stuff. With literally none of the other junk in DiRT games. No story. No "friends." No fucking gymkhana.

I would not love it on iPhone, however.

I think the second-to-last par sums up the experience for me, and it's a shame because the true puzzle levels are really good. Just feels like they didn't have enough ideas to make a hundred puzzles so there's a lot of crap and filler in the end.
