Dark Souls PC petition gets Namco Bandai's attention

jampar

Why don't Namco just have a fund for this with a donate via paypal button on their site. Everyone who donates more than say £15 gets a copy of the pc game when the fund passes the cost of the Pc Development, and the game is ported. No risk at all for Namco.

@GamesProgrammer the trade in for iphones is usually high no matter what the condition - they recycle the parts. I got £120 for my 3gs a while back and it was scratched to buggery.

Retrospective: Escape From Monkey Island

jampar

As a lover of all MI games, the Monkey Kombat is dreadful, but i quite liked the pop culture references, and just the pure sillyness.

Shameless promotion:
this is not my artwork, but would absolutely love for qwertee to print this shirt:

he also has some DOTT, and other monkey designs...

I am buying a ps3 in the next few weeks, and GT5 is near the top of the list of exclusives to pick up, but I think i will wait until GT5 has dropped in price, and has had at least 2 more meaty updates before putting my hand in my pocket.

But will it actually work as a phone? my 3gs (o2) regularly does not pick up calls, and puts them straight through to voicemail - it is the worst phone i have ever owned for its actual functionality as a phone. the apps etc, I LOVE, and use all the time though...

ICO and Shadow of the Colossus emulated in HD

jampar

I think there is a massive risk free opportunity in these sorts of things for both Xbox and PS3.

so here it is:

Sony/Xbox produce a teaser trailer for an HD remix of a game. they then ask you to sign up if interested. you recieve an e-mail which details the deal:

Sony are very proud to announce SoTC HD remix, but with a catch. without knowing the true potential of this title, we NEED your help to get this up and running. So if you are keen to see this game made please sign up. if xxx number of users sign up, we will produce a hi def demo level of this game, which is representative of the finished product. when the hi def demo is up and running, you will be given the option to purchase the full title. This also has a catch - the game will only be produced if enough people sign up to purchase the full version (much like Keynoir and mycitydeal here in the UK). Bank details are given and payment is made when the tipping point is broken (ie enough people sign up to purchase the full version so that sony at least covers the cost), the game is produced, and when ready downloaded via PSN.

this is a sure fire way to get all of our favorite games re-made in HD, as long as it is handled as well as GOW collection, and carries little or no risk for Sony/Microsoft as costs are covered at the very least. The only thing that can stop it is if Sony produce a crap version - then everyone loses anyway.

the question is - are their enough hardcore fans worldwide to support the cost of making the game? I think the GOW collection probably had a lot of 1st time sales which helped it... but what of other games?

shooting a little from the hip.. what do you guys think?

Plants vs. Zombies breaks iPhone record

jampar

@unclelou absolutely correct, apologies, my mistake.. although i would still not call £1.79 a high (for the app store) price..

jampar

I would not go so far as to call £1.79 extremely high for the app store. a quick glance at the top 100 paid games does have a lot at £0.59, but also a lot above the £1.79 price point. Above average perhaps? three quarters of the £0.59p games do not even have half the depth of this title...

jampar

@Eldritch. this game is worth at least £2.99 in my book. It suits the iphone perfectly, so yes you are a cheapskate. Agreed about the special offers or sale on the app store... they don't make it too easy. can anyone reccomend a site that details these deals regularly?

Not too bothered about this. Did go to a double bill screening of Predator & Aliens on tuesday. It was incredible. At the prince charles cinema in leicester square for any of the london people on here. they are doing it again in March... get along. they use the 80's prints as well. legendary.

Many thanks for the reccomendations.. interesting about the price. £1.79 is a complete steal. I do recall Peggle being £2.99 for quite a while, before i picked it up in the sale for £0.99... wonder if all popcap app games will retail at this price point to encourage purchases, or whether the price will fluctuate as it has in the past.

Loved Orbital... Bird Strike also very good, if a little short. If you like your tower defense, both GeoStorm games are cracking. any other reccomendations for iphone games? Played the first few waves of pvz, and it seems awesome as well.
