Oculus VR clamps down on eBay Rift re-selling

epiazk

@BobbyDeNiro Tbh I had purchased the initial rift and it took 2 months at the time to ship it to me because of how slow the batches were being generated.

Its a dev tool, not a fully working toy yet.

It was driving us in the forums crazy seeing these things being purchased just for them to be flipped on ebay at 3 times the price.

Its similar to those dudes hawking ticket sales from concerts.

Have a Nexus 7 that I love, just wanted to make a quick point.

I think i'd be happier if I could turn multitasking off! If I am travelling I would generally want it to consume as little power as possible. It is very easy to end up with 20/30 apps running in the background without noticing.

Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition gameplay trailer shows off improved Infinity Engine

epiazk

@killuminati2911 Tis an odd one. To be honest most of the changes are in the UI/Quality of life enhancements.

They were never going to re-draw the game from the ground up.

As someone that this game is targeting (replay them every year or so) I don't mind, but it is a tad un-ambitious as far as attracting new customers goes.

PS. Baldurs Gate 1 was always a pale shadow next to the MAJESTIC BG2.

@penhalion I'm using it with this laptop, mouse and keyboard. Honestly it feels fine. Id be disappointed if I had to go back, to not having the dash i've become attached to :P

Mah personal opinion is that the third party programs will make or break the OS.
0 0

epiazk

@epiazk Oh and the closed systems are ofc a BIG NEGATIVE! But at the same time it would be easily fixed by MS allowing for instance STEAM or ORIGIN to have integrated app stores on the dash as well.

epiazk

I bought windows 8 last night, have to be honest, 25 quid isn't really anything to me so it was hardly a big investment or choice I was deliberating etc.

It seems stable, can be a bit flashy at times, but wooooo pretty. The dash really is much nicer to look at with everything in one place. Also you can see the almost CONSTANT updates adding new things constantly.

Not a needed upgrade by any stretch whatsoever (7 really is a great OS), but it was worth the 25 quid for me :)

iPad mini review

epiazk

I love android phones, have an apple tablet though.

Worrying thing about Android (and partly why I was so excited about Nexus 10) is that the companies building them don't seem to mind choppy frame rates popping up at random in even some of the better models. Many reviewers complained about it when Apple refused to let you run more than one program at once but I loved it, and would like it to be an option in the settings of Android tablets.

Currently have an S2 galaxy and it has been crashing out on me 3 times a day between SWYPE (for keyboard) and Chrome. Android is bloody solid as an OS if you are willing to tweak the hell out of it, but I really don't want to be forced to root the phone and live in a state of paranoia about every app I download being a battery swallowing monster/system hog that never shuts down.

@Negotiator1 Windows Store is worrying, the fear is they use the monopolistic OS to do another Internet Explorer VS Netscape debacle except with a commerce store.

Maybe you have this penned as a conspiracy theory or whatever but Microsoft is a very aggressive (understandably - I don't expect any private company/individual to be any "nicer" than the law makes them" ) company that has a history of abusing that monopoly.

Dragon Age is pretty damn poor. Quite honestly the first was dull (I am a FO/BG/PST lover so its not like I can't "get" these games), and the second was mindless button mashing done badly with zero quest variation (everything was fedex) and they even had the gall to recycle entire maps (not just textures!).

Mass Effect improved enormously after they stopped pretending it was an RPG and they focused on the corridor shooter aspect, and while the ending of the 3rd was somewhat anti-climatic it was hardly worth getting angry about. I had great fun with all the ME games, they seemed to know what they were trying to do far more than DA:O or DA2.

Dragon Age : Origins, was an unmitigated disaster! I have no idea how they managed to make the combat so unappealing. The game is a chore from start to finish, and it is no surprise that practically nobody finished it (who purchased anyway - according to Bio Dev on social forums defending the changes for DA2). I had huge hopes for that game and it just felt boring.

ToR I actually think was alright. Until level 40. When the quality of the game dips like there is no tomorrow. Oh and voices are fun and all, but who the hell listens to anything but the main plotlines?

Sure Bioware can make good stuff, but for all their money and apparent "talent", I get more excited by Obsidian's contracted out sequels.
