Burnout Paradise Remastered is real and coming to Xbox One and PS4 next month

brainbird

I absolutely loved Burnout Paradise but I don't really see the appeal in the remaster if you've already played the original. The 360 game still looks gorgeous and is back compatible on Xbox One. Also the price seems steep if it's "just" a remaster.

Burnout Paradise is gaming perfection

brainbird

@PhilosopherKing Well said. You have to embrace every single Burnout game with its own game mechanics. I wasn't particularly fond of Takedown's traffic checking at first but after getting used to it I started to love it. If you didn't like Paradise's design, ok fair enough. But to state it was a mess is rididulous. It was perfect.

Criterion made fantastic games. We should moan about the lack of a Black sequel now.

I've played and enjoyed every single Burnout game but Paradise was my favourite. I understand how people were irritated by the design choices Criterion made but it was a bold move and - for me - resulted in a perfect game that easily makes my all-time top 10.

Burnouteers, unite!

@dfernand No. Pirates! is fantastic and one of the best games I've ever played. My opinion is not really important in this context though since I've played thousands of games but unfortunately never a Civ game.

Great news. It's somehow managed to be my most played game in the last weeks. Something about it just fits my style of playing. It reminds me of Battlefield 1943 in its simplicity which I prefer to the newer Battlefields.

The case of the disappearing video games

brainbird

@Shakey_Jake33 XBL arcade games can be played by all users on the 360 they have been downloaded to, not only with the user's account.

Again: There's only a limited quantity of any game ever sold, regardless of its format. Sometimes it's in the millions, sometimes only in the hundreds.
If you buy Yoshi's Island then it's not a copy that has left the factory yesterday. All you do is try to obtain something that is no longer being produced. Just like Outrun Online Arcade.

By the way: I'm not arguing the fact that with all the licensing that is going on the problem could get much worse in the future (sepecially when "always-online" will be a requirement one day).
5 30

brainbird

@Shakey_Jake33 Yes, you would be able to buy Outrun Online Arcade. All you need to do is buy a second hand 360 with the game on it. Just like you would have to buy a second hand game and system to play any other game.

I might be missing something but regardless whether you've bought your program code "naked" (digital-only), on a disc or on a cartridge, the game has always only been sold in a certain quantity.

Where's the difference between a rare cartridge for the Virtual Boy and a now delisted XBL game? You'll need to track down the hardware anyway in order to play the game the way it was meant to be played.

As long as you've downloaded the game and are able to play it on the hardware I don't see the difference. It's another thing when you start to play from the cloud though.

Wot? The excessive violence is a trademark of Hokuto no Ken and should therefore be part of the game too, shouldn't it? I would be seriously disappointed if I bought a Hokuto no Ken game in which you're picking flowers and resolve conflicts with rainbow kisses.

Now that Alex Ward and Fiona Sperry are free to do whatever they want, and also because EA simply doesn't care about Burnout (ahem... Burnout Crash?), I fully expect a true Burnout sequel in everything but the name.

Burnout Paradise was the best game of the last generation. There, I said it.

Naughty Dog confirms European version of The Last of Us censored

brainbird

@menage Come again when you know what censorship is. Quick question for you lot: Do you complain about censorship when there's no nudity or cursing in a popcorn movie? Do you complain about censorship when eurogamer cover words like bonkers or bullshit with asterisks?
(And before you say "yes": I don't like it either but it's NOT censorship. Let's call it "editing for mass appeal", shall we?)

It's ok to debate the topic but some of you come across like a pathetic bunch of spoilt first world children with no understanding whatsoever of what censorship is.

Really? You don't want to know which mechanism leads to the result? You don't want to know who's to blame and why? I hope you've not chosen to be a judge one day... or anything that involves critical thinking.
That's why I hate "consumers". You've got responsibility, for fuck's sake.
