Nintendo retreats into its shell at E3

@draneri what, you never played Super Princess Peach? You missed out, it was awesome.

All the new IPs are on the eShop, where the risk is lower. HarmoKnight, Freakyforms, Pushmo, Sakura Samurai, Dillon's Rolling Western. If you're complaining about no new Nintendo stuff and you didn't play any of these you can get fucked.

Also, while it was an old IP resurrected, Kid Icarus was RIDDLED with new ideas.

Really? Are Nintendo in trouble again? We've been down this road a bunch of times now haven't we? I don't see much in the way of innovation elsewhere I'm afraid. Can't think of a single title from anyone so far that isn't some sort of iteration of the old.

Couldn't you hire somebody who isn't desperately trying to imitate Charlie Brooker to do these videos? Incredibly irritating. You can't just co-opt somebody else's voice and expect it to be funny.

@Kami it's slow progress but they are getting round to figuring this digital stuff out. You can buy download codes from Game's website, usually cheaper than the retail price and then input them into the eShop. Don't know why anybody would pay the eShop price when that's an option.

Sonic Lost World channels Super Mario Galaxy and I'm not complaining

OlDirtyBusStop

I know I'm in the minority but I really didn't go for Mario Galaxy. Conceptually it was great, the levels were beautifully put together but Mario controlled all weird and floaty like. 3D Land outclassed it by miles. This I'll wait and see, hope it's more Colors than Generations.

I particularly hope they give a good 3DS game, to have the GBA and DS Sonic games be so consistently good for years only to be given that weak 3DS version of Generations was painful.

The Starship Damrey review

OlDirtyBusStop

I'm only a short way into it but I'm really enjoying what I've played so far. The environment's are sparse, sure, but it's my understanding that these titles are low-budget in the extreme to facilitate their experimental nature. Seems unfair to accuse it of essentially not having had enough money spent on it.

This is how Xbox One game trade-ins will work, apparently

OlDirtyBusStop

@Jay_Magnus true. Gamers ultimately go where the games are, but lack of publisher support can damage the install base.

OlDirtyBusStop

This could actually damage Sony. If publishers decide to abandon PS4 knowing that they'll only get a cut of used sales with Microsoft, Sony may well be forced to follow suit.

A few translations.

"I don't have any concerns about reliability whatsoever."
I don't give a fuck about reliability.

"Microsoft has very, very good policies around privacy. We're a leader in the world of privacy, I think you'll find. We take it very seriously."
I'm not answering that.

"Yeah."
No.

"I'm pretty confident that will be the case."
Fuck no.

Phil Harrison tries (again) to clarify game ownership, second-hand sales and always-online in Xbox One

OlDirtyBusStop

@darkmorgado I don't agree. A number of PS3 games and 360 games let you install them entirely to the hard drive, you still need the disc in the drive to play it. This is DRM they're pushing, make no mistake.
27 2

OlDirtyBusStop

@Anpanman or you could just need the disc in the drive.

'Confusion' over this has arisen from what was a totally Microsoft-controlled press event. Certainly implies a certain amount of backtracking, damage-limitation bullshitting. "We didn't announce what you heard us announce, we announced what we're now saying we announced. I understand why you're confused."
