Telltale confirms Walking Dead game

Lucien21

As most people who have read the Walking Dead comic book will tell you, the zombies are more or less just the background to the story.

The story is mostly about Rick, his son and the cast of characters looking for ways to survive in the new zombiepocalypse.

I wouldn't expect Telltale to make this into a shooting game. I expect them to concentrate on telling the character story. So it will not be a FPS, or a Dead Rising, Dead Island style game.

Loved the first game, but like someone already said. Can't help but feel slightly disappointed it's just more of the same.

Was hoping for the next great mario innovation. Kinda feels like this was rushed into production to answer the criticisms of last year. You don't need a new engine just reuse some of the previous game.

Microsoft bigwig has a right go at Sony

Lucien21

While nothing he said is entirely inaccurate it smacks of desperation from Microsoft.

They keep going on about how there is 5 million more 360's sold. Well so what...they have been out a year longer than the PS3.

They certainly have taken more of the market share from Sony in this generation, but they certainly havn't won it.

Looking at the sales side by side from launch dates show a similar sales pattern up until recently when the PS3 seems to be now selling faster than the 360 did at the same point in it's lifestyle.

So good PR speech from MS, but it is in vain.

Grand Theft Auto IV: PS3 vs. Xbox 360 Special

Lucien21

I don't really give a shit about which one is marginally better. The difference is so slight that it is meaningless to the actual gameplay experience.

As someone who owns both consoles I thought about which one to buy.

In the end I went for the PS3 version for 2 reasons:

* Multiplayer: I only have a silver live membership and don't see a need to pay to upgrade it. PS3 multiplayer has worked fine for me in the past with Resistance and Hot Shots Golf.
* less noise and more reliability: The 360 sounds like a frigging jet engine when playing games and i'm getting sick of disc read errors in recent 360 games.

I have been more than happy with the game since.

Harmonix's Rob Kay

Lucien21

Blaming it on VAT is predictable and not entirely without merit.

Sales tax is added at the counter in the USA so the $ prices quoted don't include sales tax which is usually between 5 and 9%.

The other excuse about electronic devices being generally higher in the UK is a crock....It is basically saying everyone else gets away with it so why not us.

As other people have shown the mark up on certain devices like the Ipod etc is no where near the 100% mark up that they are taking.

So once again I say "EA can Git to f**k" I certainly will not be purchasing Rock Band.

People seem to forget that the PS2 was £300 at launch (About £370 in todays money) and it's sold about 115 million consoles.

Price of the PS2 since launch.

United Kingdom (including VAT, currently 17.5%)[20]

GB£299 (November 24, 2000, Launch Price)
GB£269 (June 2001)
GB£199 (September 28, 2001)
GB£169.99 (August 27, 2002)
GB£139.99 (October 1, 2003)
GB£104.99 (August 18, 2004)
GB£94.99 (August 21, 2006)[3] (current RRP)
GB£69.99 (November 19, 2006)

I don't get all the fanboy crap that gets poured onto forum boards.

ScummVM donations suspended

Lucien21

"I don't see how playing back game files you own on other systems is in any way illegal. It's exactly the same as recording a cassette mix tape of CDs that you own in order to listen on a cassette walkman. It's totally within the bounds of fair use, transferring legally owned files from one format to another makes no difference. "

ScummVM isn't licenced for the PSP or the DS. You have to crack the system to get it to work.

Makes no difference that the actual game is genuine.

ScummVM is a godsend. It allows me to play my collection of old adventure games on my new computer.

Fantastic.

However, ScummVM exists in a legal grey area. Various developers, Revolution for example, have supported the project with the source code of their old games etc. But only on the PC.

Where I think ScummVM doesn't do itself any favours is in the support of Homebrew on the PSP and DS etc. It's great as a fan to be able to play Day of the Tentacle on those and other systems (PDA's etc), but the games were never designed for those systems and as such could be seen as illegal. (Especially the PSP and DS where you have to use hacks to break the security of Nintendo and Sony)

If they had stuck to just supporting the PC they might not be having these problems.
