A couple of the maps are very poor and if you have unbalanced teams, turns into yet another white wash. Despite having a good graphics card, the graphics are poor compared to vanilla BC2 and of course, it brings with it the same old bugs - bullet proof leaves, over sized hit boxes, the ability to get stuck ( I actually fell OUT of the map last night) etc etc.

Football Manager 2011

I cant believe I actually AGREE with a Eurogamer score! The past couple of FM games have been ok but for someone like me who enjoys playing my now non-league side - Luton, I always found the player demands silly and it was so difficult to sign players.

I hated how you make an offer for say 40k - the club refuses and then ask 50k, which you refuse and then offer 45k so they come back with an offer of 100k. Ive not had a chance to test the transfer offerings yet, because my club doesnt actually have any money to spend in the demo! lol

But the new match engine is still wanting some there are some big improvements over all - its faster, more user friendly than ever before. It is an ESSENTIAL day 1 purchase!

Napoleon: Total War

Med TW 2 had shocking AI and it took them months to fix it. The same thing happened with Empire. 3rd time lucky? There is no doubt that the series is awesome but since Sega dipped their fingers in, the quality of the final product has been shocking.

I dont fancy spending 40 on the Imperial edition then having to wait 6-8 months for the AI to work.

As for reviews - only a clown will believe reviews.

Football Manager 2010

9/10? Its clear that Eurogamer must lick the arse of Sega. Especially when you are unbeaten all season (15 games) and the board/fans are unhappy that you have had ZERO defeats in a row!

Matches are not realistic - they are still dreadful and VERY painful to watch. Transfers and contracts are still bollocks- Same old shit, different year.

The Real Cataclysm

Another reason for WoWs success must be when Star Wars Galaxies hit the rails back in 2005 when it made history by seeing its 500,000 player base leave by the thousands when NGE hit.

The problem for me is that every other developer hasnt really tried hard enough to challenge WoW as they offer more or less the same dull experience albeit with a different gaming world. People dont want to play the same game again, they want something different.

From my experiences, I find WoW totally inspiring, where doing very little sees you being rewarded. I play WoW from time to time when I want to play something that requires zero brain power but lately, I simply login to sell stuff rather than take on the tedious grind that WoW is.

But with the arrival of Star Wars: The Old Republic next year, things need to change because here comes a game that certainly could attract players away and lets not forget Diablo - another title that could see its player base reduce, if they ever announce it as an MMO.

30 per cent of MMO players buy gold

Jigglybean

Most MMOs format means that those who are 'cash rich' but 'time poor' will spend money on gold. If they cant spend XX hours playing, they will feel left behind. The sooner MMOs move away from levelling up, and have more of a sandbox approach would balance things out - just.

MMOs have created a new market and there are people out there taking advantage - and good luck to them!

One of my favourite online RTS games of all time. Its a bargain to! If you dont have the original, you can pick up the expansion and full game for 13 on Amazon. A big thanks to Ubisoft for investing in Massive as it would have been a shame to see such talented people go out of business.

Great pvp let down by a very unpolished product. Its great that all the crap they cut out is coming back as updates. Its also a bad sign when things are already being 'revamped'. Look what happened to Star Wars Galaxies.

Football Manager 2009 patch on Friday

Too many bugs in the demo to enjoy the game. The 3d engine, although nice to have is awful and needs another 2 years of work. @ Bumhug - nice goal! LOL I had an an experience like that. My keeper came out to get the ball but the ball went through him and in the net.

Players pausing with the ball waiting to be challenged is a nightmare. Sort it out SI. I know Sega demand low quality bug fest releases but tell them to piss off

Blizzard in for "lengthy battle" - Mythic

Jigglybean

@ano

LOL sorry to laugh, but WoW hasnt got 'vast wastelands'. You want vast, try Star Wars Galaxies. Huge maps that you can explore (expect the wow copying Kashyyyk).

WAR has probably moved the MMO genre one step forward but thats it. In terms of content, its yet another genre MMO. It also needs polish - badly! WoW isnt good but its polished.

Jigglybean

I've just posted in the other thread but WAR is certainly losing players. I'm just lvl 23 and already public quests are lacking players, RvR scenarios are all but dead for Order. I can see why players are bored of WoW but its streets ahead in terms of polish and dull quests/dungeons but WAR does win the pvp battle - its alot better but that doesnt make WAR a WoW beater.

Both are genre uninspiring MMOs.

Two new WAR classes this winter

Jigglybean

My server is already dying. It used to be very busy, queue to get in etc etc - but now, public quests have just 1 or 2 people, RvR scenarios are all but dead. This is for Order btw.

And thats the problem with WAR. It relies too much on groups and those groups are going

Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning

Jigglybean

This game deserves more like a 6/10. Clearly they have cut corners to get the game out. Lots of placeholders, extremely limited classes/character creation (even more limited than WOW!), AI getting stuck, lack of any serious content. The first quest is 'go and kill xx of these xxx' - pah! AI also has an incredible way of healing. If you take it away from its spawn area, it will run back and go back to 100% health every time. Very annoying.

The UI is probably the worst in any MMO. WOW might be simple but man, they have their UI down to a fine art. Clicking on items puts them in the chat bar, linking stuff in chat - none of that in WAR.

However, RvR is awesome. Alot of fun, if you have a good team with you its alot of fun and PvP is 100% better than WOWs flawed effort. Its no great, but given 10 years it might be

Report: 500,000 gold farmers worldwide

Jigglybean

Interesting news piece. Its not a shocker really though. The whole MMO format lends itself to this kind of behaviour. Cash rich, time poor people dont want to be left behind in the daily grind/levelling up. If companies provide a service to help them stay in the game, then why not?

Personally, I HAVE used gold farming companies and have experienced nothing but a flawless service.
