Watch Dogs season pass includes story DLC, mini-game, weapons, outfits

GreasyWeasel

The season pass includes all of the digital stuff that is in the collectors edition of the game so unless you want the physical tat that it includes there is now zero reason to get the stupidly overpriced collectors edition.

Assassin's Creed: Revelations online pass details

GreasyWeasel

@darkmorgado I understand there is a free trial but I have bought the previous AC games and never played any of the multiplayer modes. No one I know cares about multiplayer in this franchise so locking it out for people who buy pre-owned will do nothing to stop the "trade it in" mentality.

Getting any new multiplayer game/mode a decent following is almost impossible in this CoD team death match era (although I wish it wasn't). I just don't think locking out potential players no matter how few will help people adopt and play your multiplayer game, let alone stop people buying used.

I would have thought that they would need people to start playing the multiplayer and get them hooked before locking them out.

Amazon accused of 3DS delivery failure

GreasyWeasel

I pre-ordered mine from them with expedited delivery (Amazon Prime). Mine was despatched yesterday evening and has turned up this morning. So I hope other get theirs.

However, that being said, how can this a genuine story about failure to deliver until they actually fail to deliver it today (last time I looked there was still a fair bit of the day to go)? Surely this is the usual panic you see from people terrified that their latest 'must have' purchase might not turn up. I'm quite disappointed with Eurogamer for running this today to be honest, I expect a bit more real news and not panic speculation from them.

Capcom fixing Monster Hunter ISP issues

GreasyWeasel

This issue has now been resolved. I was contacted by my ISP (XILO) to say that they had spoken with Nintendo/Capcom and that it's now been resolved. While it seems to have been fixed for Murphx connected players, there are still a few people complaining that they still can't get on however it also seems that Nintendo/Capcom are still working on it.

Apple shows 16GB/32GB iPhone 3GS

GreasyWeasel

@penhalion

I'm not trying to justify the price here although you haven't taken into account how much these sorts of things cost to develop and design up front. They have to get that r&d money back somehow, everything would be so much cheaper if we only had to pay what the parts cost and the wages for the man that puts it together. Don't get me wrong though, I fully understand that they make a lot of money out of these sorts of devices.

I was simply trying to show the people that scream about us getting ripped off compared to the US where not comparing the same things.

GreasyWeasel

£500-600 is usual for this type of high end smartphone nowadays, it's just because the carriers sub them that everyone thinks this is a lot of money.
As for the question of why we £500+ and the US pay $299, you are not comparing like for like. The £500+ price in the UK is 'pay and go' ie not subsidised where as the $299 US price is on a 2 year contract (so will be subsidised). If you compare it to the UK price on a 2 year contract you see we actually get a fairly good deal since it costs £175.19.

Xbox 360 leads PS3 by 1m in Europe

GreasyWeasel

I simply don't believe that the number of consoles sold = the number of people using those consoles. I know a number of people that have or do own more than one 360 simply because their first (second, third and so on) has broken down in some way. I even know people that have bought a cheap arcade unit whilst waiting for their broken console to be replaced. These count as console sales but they don't count as new users.

I would love to know the actual number of active consoles.

I am currently waiting for my xbox to be replaced again (4th time!) due to the rrod so we know they are very unreliable. I have only had one ps3 however and don't know anyone that has bought a second whilst their first is being fixed. I don't want this to be seen as a xbox vs ps3 rant though. I own both and play on the 360 a lot more I just wish it was built half as well as the ps3.

Viva Piñata heading to DS

GreasyWeasel

Cheers BadBoyBonner,

"That vision of sending Piñata to each other was around before Xbox Live even existed. That's why [VIVA PIÑATA] BEGAN LIFE ON A HANDHELD PDA DEVICE [in 2002] because we wanted one machine that could communicate with another," revealed Mayles.

Ok so I was wrong that it was originally intended for the DS but I knew the original idea was for a handheld and not the xbox.

No real surprise, I'm sure the orignal concept for this game from Rare was originally intended for the DS anyway. The game simply got refocused to the 360 when Microsoft bought them.

Xbox Live to hit PC in May

GreasyWeasel

SBfistfun:
I'm guessing your comments where aimed at me but when I used to play pc games there wasn't xfire (or at least I didn't know about it). You also say just send your ip to someone for teamspeak again you assume that everyone that plays games knows how to do this. I do but I know an awful lot of people that don't.

I don't disagree with your comments about you not seeing the point other than to play 360 owners or that Vista is shite (I certainly don't have it yet and can't see me getting it any time soon). However that is your view, I can also see a lot of people thinking it's great just because it makes it easy.

With Live for PC Microsoft is appealing to a large market that simply isn't interested unless it's easy. In my experience things existing PC gamers take for granted (upgrading hardware, upgrading drivers, even things as simple as changing screen res for better performance) are beyond the 'normal man on the street' or 'PC World buyer' ;)

GreasyWeasel

The thing is, some people just want things to work and that is what Live is supposed to give you. I used to play a lot of PC games online and it used to annoy the hell out of me trying to get a few friends together to play. There's finding a server with enough room for you all, making sure you all have the same patch number etc. Voice chat was always a pain because you had to use a separate app and set up server.

As I've got older I now have much less time to play games regularly and so my time is precious. If I have two hours to play then I want to play for two hours not 45 minutes because it's taken an hour and fifteen minutes to get it all set up. For all of these reasons I play very little on the pc now and instead play on my 360 with Live. Even if I didn't have a 360 and gold account already I'd be more than willing to pay, what is really a fairly modest fee for a whole year, so that I could simply play easily.

Don't get me wrong this certainly shouldn't be forced upon people and playing for free on the pc should never disappear but I do feel that there is definitely a market for this type of set up even if it doesn't appeal to the more hardcore pc gamers. Besides which from my understanding you'll get all of the pc to pc features for free anyway and only have to pay to play 360 owners but I could be wrong on this.
