@George-Roper As it says in the article, there'll be a demo too - so you can try before you buy.

007 Legends review

Batsphinx

@Muddtallica Not sure if it helps but I found the Wii Goldeneye entirely passable, as far as Wii shooters go, but had absolutely no truck with the version that then got ported to PS3/360 where it simply didn't stand up to other shooters on those consoles.

EDIT: Also, something I was going to mention in the review is that you don't hear the actual Bond theme once. How weird is that? It's all music that riffs off the originals. I thought it might pop in after the Moonraker climax - but nope. Strangely absent.

@Seoh To be fair there's always Dropbox - which is what we primarily use now. Last year's shenanigans were entirely self-inflicted.

Glad people seem to like the piece. Feeling @scuffpuppies pain though:(

An audience with Syndicate

@jonbwfc I used that because when his fans talk to him it really is like they're meeting royalty. I wanted to get over the fact that, even though a lot of people of our age-bracket or interest-set don't find him super-amazing - to a lot of school-kids he's the second coming.

@Big_G Yeah - read it through and it wasn't clear if you're not already aware of the YouTuber tribe and what they do. I've added a new para to explain. Cheers for pointing it out mate.

Project Zomboid developers to tell Rezzed audience "How (Not) To Make A Game"

Yeah, we'll clearly be covering last October's fun and games - that's what we're referring to when we say "paying particular attention to what one would assume to be common sense."

@Hindle

Yeah, you'll totally understand the story. Don't fret it - it's a prequel, so everything'll be explained properly and the only references to the other games are in knowing nods that you'll think are simply part of the game you're playing. It's pretty much designed with new players in mind. - Will

For those interested, Dave's twitter is @DaveyCCFC. He might post something in a bit too. Seems keen on the demanded LA Noire review.

Crysis 2

Batsphinx

7 years ago

Hi everyone, Will Porter - author of this piece here.

Guys, I've gone and done a bad thing. I've totally misremembered what platform I played Crysis 2 on which, some might argue, is kindof a major mis-step for a man of my profession. My only excuse is that the event was a while back and there was a myriad of games on show - and my brain became muddled. I am aware this isn't a very good excuse.

I've asked for the offending article in the above preview to be changed.

Sorry for getting people's hopes up. :(

Gah, so sorry I didn't write more on Chocks Away! Loved that game - splitscreen with my brother was nothing but a joy!

@TheTingler

I originally thought he was referring to the use of the theme in Invisible War, but I've gone back and checked and he does say 2000. The words 'and for' followed it, leading into a pause before he said the next sentence, leading to the mistake. Have pinged Bramwell to fix it.

Doctor Who: The Adventure Games - City of the Daleks

@TheTingler From what I recall from being up at Sumo, the man from the BBC said that it'd operate on a similar basis to the iPlayer in terms of who could download it. He also said that ways of opening it up globally were being looked into.

Bramwell, if you're reading this can you do some magic?

I don't want to put words into Dan G's mouth, but I think that he was trying to underline that as the years have gone past the UK games dev/indie/journo/whatever community has been drawn a lot closer together - and that seemingly everyone knows everyone else more than they once did, or at least knows of them. Something aided and abetted by facebook, twitter, forums and the likes.

At least, I think that's what he's saying. Arguably it's been that way for a fair while.

It's better than The Dig and Simon the Sorceror combined. And I'm not just saying that.

Retrospective: Discworld

Smelly: I did, but DOSbox just wasn't having any of it. It was either ugly yellow numbers or nowt, sadly. Have since been informed of a work-around, so shouldn't be an issue next time.

Could I just point out that when I was writing this Discworld retro thingummie the reference to the super awesomeness of Eric Idle was meant to be dripping with a modicum of heavy irony and/or sarcasm? He's certainly no Palin. Or, indeed, Jones, Cleese or Chapman. Better than Carol Cleveland though.
