Original Metal Gear Solid for PSN

In Japan this spring. No word on West.

The original Metal Gear Solid game may be heading to PS3 and PSP this spring via the PlayStation Network.

Word comes from the pages of Japanese magazine Famitsu, which also outed a steel-coloured PS3 for the region earlier today.

Konami Europe has offered no comment on the Western whereabouts of the PSN games.

Metal Gear Solid first appeared in Japan on PSone in 1998, and eventually arrived in Europe on February 1999.

Solid Snake was supposedly modelled on the physique of Jean-Claude Van Damme and his facial appearance inspired by Christopher Walken.

It scored an average of 94 out of 100 on Metacritic, and has shipped around six million copies to date.
