Sony will release a cut-down 3D version of PS3 off-road racer MotorStorm: Pacific Rift through the PlayStation Store this week.

MotorStorm 3D Rift will be in the European PSN update tomorrow, 25th August, according to Simon Benson of the SCEE 3D Team on the PlayStation Blog. He did not mention a price.

The release, which appears to be neither DLC, free demo nor full game, presents 10 tracks from 2008's Pacific Rift in 3D if you have the requisite posh telly and glasses. There are 10 "unique" events, one for each track, and four classes of vehicle available: bikes, buggies, racing trucks and monster trucks. The full range of difficulty levels is in there.

MotorStorm developer Evolution is working on a new game in the series, MotorStorm Apocalypse, which will feature full 3D support and launch in 2011.
