I agree with most. This preview tells us nothing about the quality of the game, just that this particular person doesn't get on with this genre. Mentioning Zelda and Bastion is weird. It's a bit like previewing the new FIFA then qualifying it by saying you've never played a FIFA game before, but you really like American football, and then holding it to those standards. Reply-4
You guys do realise this is just damage control PR, right? They haven't learnt shit, except if you tell people what they want to hear they'll lap it up. Microtransactions will still be all over EA's games and you're a fool if you think otherwise. Reply+31
Most of the App Store reviews are suspiciously positive
It's not suspicious, there really are a lot of people that are totally fine with this. That's why it's becoming more and more prominent, they wouldn't do it if it didn't work. The iPhone payment system is very sleek, you put your password in and click okay and you're done. You probably won't even notice the money gone from your account, it's only a couple of quid after all, out of sight, out of mind. They're not making a small profit, these scam apps (only way I can describe them) are making an absolute mint because a great many casual mobile gamers are totally ok with paying to play. Reply+10
At this point, mobile gaming should be a triumph. Just look at the graphics in the screenshot on this page. But what good mobile games are coming out? Are there any? Modern phones are extremely capable devices now, we could be seeing some wonderful games on them, but there's fuck all. We're at the point where games are designed around a payment model. I don't waste my time with any of these games, but it's a sad state of affairs for the industry. Reply+15
Gearbox fucked up but anyone who pre-ordered this/paid for it without seeing reviews is an idiot and they deserve it. Consumers' first line of defence is themselves, there is no good reason to put your money down on a game before it's been released. Gearbox will be punished by lack of sales, but the game has now topped the charts because swathes of utter idiots paid for this without waiting for reviews. If you'd waited then you could have voted with your wallet. Reply+3
They never properly evolved for the current round of consoles. Like much of the Japanese games industry, their games design philosophies are stuck around the year 2000.
Just Cause 3 will serve them well. JC2 was ace and I think the third game is going to be a huge hit. Reply+16
Card games can be fun if the subject matter is interesting. I'd play a Resident Evil card game, for example. And the Final Fantasy card games (Triple Triad, etc) are a lot of fun.
Uncharted is a good series but a card game of it sounds like the dullest thing ever. Reply+3
Bullshit answer. Didn't want to admit it's because Vita has sold like shit and they didn't want to waste money making a game they think only 10 people would buy. Vita needs stuff like this and Monster Hunter before they will buy it. Reply+1
I'm reading Bioshock: Rapture at the moment, it's pretty good. I think it's designed to be read immediately after the first game. I haven't played Bioshock since 2007 so I'm frequently getting the impression I'm supposed to know more about certain characters than I actually do. I'm constantly trying to plunge the depths of my memory to remember what these guys were actually like in the game. I guess I should just play Bioshock again.. :) Reply+2
There are too many ads imo. I have nothing against advertising and I understand the need for it, but Microsoft doesn't need to flood the Xbox dashboard with ads, they just don't need to do it. Personally I think they should keep the adverts to the store. So if you go to your video tab, you get movie ads, if you go to the games tab, you get games ads. Would be really nice to have the launch screen free of ads, say, have your friends list on the right side of the screen, and on the left side have the Open/Play button, then a Windows 8 style grid of shortcuts to anything of your choosing, XBLA games, videos, etc. Reply+1
The Wind Waker's missing dungeons were reused in other Zelda games
They were cut because they were running out of time and needed to ship the game. Reply +7
