WTF? Why would they let people add cubes? And why do people actually pay to add cubes?? The whole purpose of the 'game' is to find the secret, right? Why? Add?? Cubes???? Reply+53
What do you mean the units don't level up? In online games there are 3-tier armor upgrades and damage upgrades for different unit classes (e.g. bio units, air units & vehicles for Terran), which you all have to research separately.
Edit: not to mention the extra skills/attacks you can research for many units. Reply+1
Grubby is a very nice guy indeed. One of the very few married pro-gamers afaik. But the whole SC2 scene seems to consist of nice guys, With a few excepetions of course (Idra, anyone?). For those who want to try out SC2, you can buy the original Wings of Liberty for a few quid now. If you're only the least bit interested in RTS, you should. Reply0
Sands of Time had the best game opening ever. First the prince running through the night, telling about the nature of time. Then the beautiful nightblue opening screen with the palm trees and the castle in the background. Press start for a new game, the camera zooms in on a balcony of the palace, and there's our prince, standing on the balcony. The curtains at the door (to the bedroom of the princess?) are moving in the wind. Step through the curtain to start your adventure.
SoT had its flaws (combat!) but I hope Ubi makes another PoP-game with the same atmosphere - which they never did. Oh and while we're at it, please get to work on Beyond Good & Evil 2 (and make sure it has the same dreamy atmosphere as SoT and BG&E 1). Reply+2
Saw the trailer, loved the game quality. But I am getting a little desperate. Why are all these games so ultra-violent? Far Cry 3, Tombraider, The Last of Us, all have crazy production values, and all are extremely violent and painfully realistic.
I love games, but I hate realistic violence, especially if the game protagonist is the one doing the violence.
Where are the AAA titles without ultra-violence? Reply+2
Damn. I wanted to dismiss this out of hand. The LEGO franchise should have been milked dry after Batman 2, but they had to go and make an even better game, didn't they? And it's LotR! Oh well, off to the store. Reply+1
Groan. At least give us a picture of Jade's face. Oh those beautiful green eyes...
Anyway, I'm a bit disappointed that they changed the colorful, cartoony style to nitty-gritty realism, doesn't fit the IP at all. It actually looks more like Prince of Persia to me, all the climbing and jumping.
But it would be a day-1 purchase for me, no doubt at all. Even if I would have to buy a new console for it. Reply+3
@intpleeus That is a very eloquent post, sir. However, I think there is a much simpler explanation for the media row.
The media want to sell papers, links, content. Sell more. Right now.
So the TR trailer comes out. So someone, somewhere on the internet uses the word "Rape". What is easier for the media than copying and exaggerating this? It's on the net, so it's true, right? So they copy it, and then they copy each other, again and again, each one putting another exclamation mark after it.
Voilá, a media row. No, wait, it's a moral outrage!
Edit: if you want to be really cynical, you might even suspect that Rosenberg intentionally tried to create the row. Even bad publicity is good publicity. Reply+3
The problem is of course that WoL is pretty well balanced now (let the flames begin). So any new unit is a danger to that fine balance. I play Terran (only Silver tho), and I really hope that they will come up with an alternative to the Warhound.
Let's not forget it's still in Beta. Blizzard might well be drawing the beta out over 6 or more months. Anything can happen yet (right? please?) Reply+5
But how about Doom 3 for scary and depressing? No light anywhere, just monsters, dead people, dying people. I had to stop playing it because I got genuinely depressed - and scared. Reply+1
