Registered 7 years agoI want to go and do my trainer work now to get it out of the way. However, I have a very important delivery due and I can pretty much guarantee it'll show up when I'm in the garage. =/This post is sponsored by Apple and the iPhone 4S. Think different.

Registered 7 years agoI pulled the bike / turbo trainer into my living room. Nearly fucking melted (no fan). Delivery came about 10 seconds after I finished and I walked to the door looking like I'd been thrown into a washing machine on the "melt clothes" cycle. This post is sponsored by Apple and the iPhone 4S. Registered 10 years agoI've been through what I imagine is a stereotypical German customer support experience.
Noticed that one of the rivets that holds the front mech mount on my new Canyon hadn't gone in perfectly. I sent them a photo showing the issue, and they were all like "that's not 100% perfect, therefore it's faulty. Send it back, we'll give you a brand new bike."
Should be with me next week. -

Ah.
Nevermind then haha.
Quite enjoy tinkering with my bike anyway, so was thinking of getting a new frame and transferring all the bits over. That's the long term plan. Currently looking at new brake levers/gear changers, not cheap though are they. -

I watched a video on youtube earlier of an electric derailleur! It was pretty fricking impressive. God knows how much that costs though.

Registered 9 years agoI think it's just a chain...
Can't imagine you'd put a coated chain on a bike with gears, asking for trouble and slips. On single speeds though, they are all the rage with the skinny jeans crowd. -

You can get an Ultegra Di2 groupset for about 1 and a half grand. Or less from some websites.

Registered 8 years agoThat's just a standard chain, the same colour as it should be. If yours isn't, then you need to rethink your cleaning schedule
It does stand out a bit against the matte black chainring, frame and wheels, but it's the same as the cassette. -

Heh, I'll be the first to admit I clean my drivechain far too infrequently, though I do at least try to get the chain itself looking new coloured when I do. Must just be weird lighting/exposure then. Steel doesn't normally look that colour in my experience.

At times there's a bit of a 'scratchy' noise coming from it - a bike shop took a look at it for me and said that the metal section (the cage?) has been quite badly bent. Possibly from when I 'wiped out' on the ice, last Winter.
10 speed 105? £38 on chainreaction. What's wrong with it that needs replacing? -

Checked Ebay, or any of the bike forums?
I've been out and about on my road bike over the past few days (even if I have still got a manky cold). Spending the whole of Winter on my single-speed was fun - but I'd forgotten how fast you can go on a dedicated tarmac eater.
STILL need a new rear derailleur (ten attempts at spelling that one, and I'm still not sure if it's right - thank you Google dictionary) at some point, though - anything 105-related would do. Anyone seen any going cheap at any of the online stores?
Put a message out on BikeRadar about what you're after and I'm sure someone will come back to you. Cyclists are always looking to upgrade and I'm sure they'll be some 105 kit for sale. My winter bike is all 105. -

I had a closer look at this today - the freewheel was fine. It was actually the nut/spacer between the freewheel and the frame that had completely cracked in half.elstoof wrote:
Only just got around to taking the wheel off. The axle appears to be okay (in that it didn't come out in separate chunks). The front section of the freewheel DID fall out, though.
Quite likely to be broken pawls in the freehub, if you've eliminated anything visibly blocking your wheel.
When you say single speed, you do mean you can coast rather than a fixie right?
It looks like your diagnosis was correct.
I'll be able to ride 'fixed' until I get a freewheel sorted out.
What could have caused this? Just general 'wear & tear' and Winter goodness? -
