Ha, you can't even rename the searches any more.

For God's sake, Windows. And all Windows programs. There are no words for how bad it is. No Windows ever reached beta state. Much has been told about monkeys at typewriters, but they couldn't possibly be as bad as MS. Every teenage amateur programmer would be so ashamed of making something so bad that he'd hang himself. The English language sorely lacks a term for something that's far beyond "epic fail". This isn't possible. It's almost like they're trying to disprove the concept of possibility.

never had any problems with Windows 7.

One thing that is pissing me off is cunty sales reps asking for static maps and street address on web banners eg leaderboards and sky banners. Not they ever fucking listen.

I never had any problems with Windows 7 until I got a new USB memory stick and found out that it wasn't my crappy old one that was slow but actually Windows 7, which apparently has some issue with USB 2.0 on certain computers. I can't seem to fix it.

Windows crashes. Image viewing thing needs up to ten seconds to load the next image. Media Center is so incredibly fucked up in every way, it's beyond belief (tbh, it was struggling with Media Center again that made me rant here). Task Manager still fails to work after game crashes. Windows still fails to scroll in the window the cursor is on, still not reacting to the existence of mouse wheels. I could go on and on.

Okay, I admit, Windows itself may not be *the* worst software in existence, although it really tries to. Some of it is borderline acceptable. But much of it is still worse than is possible. No one else could have made something as ludicrously broken as Media Center.

Just been to the TfL site to use the journeyplanner. Who's been monkeying about with this then? Pretty sure that's not going to work on my phone any more (not that I often need to use it when out and about), I now have to scroll up and down to see the whole of one journey, and I have to let it submit my journey details to google to get anything done. If it's not broken, leave it the fuck alone please.

Like much on the net, they have an army of developers who need to justify their job, so they keep redesigning stuff. Facebook is a classic example.

Yep, I guess so. Even though TfL probably outsource almost all of their development work, budgets get set and have to be spent.

IT guy at my work is a major fan of all things MS. Why everyone has windows phones and we have xbox ones in the board rooms. He also always claims that he has never seen any problems with Windows 7. Despite the fact that 90% of his job is fixing problems with Windows 7.

I really hate the Wilhelm Scream. Yes, we get it. It's a 'funny' movie cliche but every time I hear it, it reminds me I'm watching a film which completely takes me out of the moment. It's as annoying as if every film had a line about "make him an offer he can't refuse" as a kind of in-joke homage to The Godfather.

I'm with you on that. Once you know about it, it sticks out so much it just pulls you out the moment and kills the flow of the film. We get it, a man screamed and you've reused it for a character that shouldn't sound like that, making it seem really out of place. Well done, sound guy.

That said, if they mess about with it and make it more subtle it's okay. For me at least, it's more when they leave it quite loud.

It's an in-joke that will be lost on a really vast majority of the audience. You just happen to be a geek that gets the joke. The price for bein gin on it is a ruined film experience I guess. :-)

Yeah, can't stand the Wilhelm Scream. I think less of any film that has it. Why bother with it, takes you right out the film. You can anticipate it happening.

I almost wish I didn't know about it. It sticks out as much as bad product placement. I don't mind too much if you can see someone is using a Sony product, but the OTT shoving a product right in front of camera for several seconds is a bit too obvious.

Something like this is coming up a lot in many US TV series.

Hard to beat Papa Johns and eHarmony in "Secret life of Walter Mitty".

Building them into the story is next level product placement.

On Hawaii 5-0, Korean bloke from Lost and Boomer from Battlestar have to find out about a piece of art so he suggests she "bing it", as if anyone has ever said that at any time ever without being given money to do so.

The Skyfall "VW Beetles" part took it to a new level. The use of Cat was almost subtle.

wow really? I could believe google it, but I have never ever heard anyone not associated with MS use the word bing. Unless its a conversation about microwaves.

Microsoft seem to have all their stuff in TV shows now. Windows 8 looks so out of place. Suppose it saves them from having a landfill of original Surfaces.

Microsoft seems to have a deal with several things at the moment. Always turning up in Arrow and Hawaii 5-0 with tablets, Windows phones, Bing, Windows 8, etc. I couldn't find a clip but there was a Hawaii 5-0 scene where they give a girl a phone and told her if she's scared she can use the app to contact them by pressing it, with a quick windows phone demo.
