Yup, it's bullshit and a waste of time but the politicians get their egos massaged about how they're at least attempting to do something about it ( and get some cash on the side ) while really they're just showing that they think we really are all criminals or terrorists or both.
Fair do's really as i think they're all power-hungry, insincere, lying bastards.

I actually saw one of these in Liverpool last week.

I took a pic of it on the blackberry. It's not a great pic but you can make it out. I had just come out of the bank when I saw it. I believe it was following an armoured van dropping money off at one of the banks in the area (opposite the lloyds in the old swan area)

Rough location of where it was hovering

How long until you're stopped from taking photos of the sky in case one of these stupid things is up there?

"I'm sorry Sir but you must be a terrorist as there might be a spyblimp up there. Come with us to the station for a beating. Thankyew."

You'll recall that a similar system being considered by the L.A. County Sheriff's Department was shot down by the FAA around this time last year, proving once again that up-and-coming British criminals could probably minimize their risks of incarceration by making the move Stateside.

If you want to avoid incarceration better stay here.

I find all this absurd - and when you think about the waste of tax payers money quite annoyed.

What's the point of all this bollocks when even in the unlikely event the police do catch and bother to prosecute someone, they then walk free with a suspended sentence.

I spoke to a copper I know the other day and one repeat burglar had been caught ten times before the courts finally gave him a 6 month sentence.

I imagine these things will be used for allocating parking tickets - which is the only law that seems to be enforced anymore - to fascistic proportions actually.

Looks like it's only really usable as a cheap alternative to calling in a chopper to get an aerial view or use for thermal imaging, which they already have. It's not as if they're autonomous snooping droids flying about and peering through your windows.

Great isn't it. The Police 'ignorant' of the Law. What a great nation we have here.

Well to be fair to them it's a change in aviation law and they suspended flights as soon as they were aware of the changes. But if you want to cry Broken Britain please do. It's not like I ever get tired of hearing that.

I just find it funny. Sad but funny. You'd think that at some point during the project someone would have bothered to ask the CAA or check up on these things?
    Just wondering.

Time to get your spotter books out

A guide to the different models of UAV both in action and development.

Didn't realise Predator drones could be fitted with their own mini-UAVs.

Not the best source, but 4mins into the news report the news report shows one of the insect drones. Now that's some high quality tech!

I remember being creeped out just by the drones/cyphers in MGS2 back in the day. And then there's those horrible flying things in Bioshock.

Please... I don't want them in real life. There's something really rather eerie and scary about the whole idea of them.

I have visions of opening the curtains at night, only to see one hovering right outside my window. You can never be alone!

Well I thought the hummingbird drone was amazing until I saw the gnat sized one. The size of your fingertip.

Yes, that obvious mock-up of the insect drone on the only news show that makes Fox News look balanced sure is impressive stuff.

10yrs ago there were no drones at all. Who's to say what will be created in the next 10yrs? The Governments around the world have a drone fixation at the moment, and it doesn't look like it will change anytime soon.
