Resident Evil replay...

    After finishing Zero and the remake on the cube, I had the same urge. Upon firing up the second and third games on the dreamcast, the drop in visual quality was considerable.

    Now normally I'm not too bothered about how a game looks but find it essential for getting into survival horror type games.

    Saying that, Doom on XBLA made me s**t me pants when I ran round a corner too fast straight into an angry imp!

    PSX version of Resi arguably has the best lines:

    "It's blood. I hope this isn't Chris' blood."

    and....

    "That was too close; you were almost a Jill sandwich."

    and my favourite...

    Nostalgia for the PS series keeps me wanting to complete the RE-make on Cube but it's just so dull I can't be bothered. I used to be the biggest fan but now it's just a pain to trek around solving puzzles.

    I can't get enough of it. It's still great entertainment, and RE always got the pacing just right.

    Thinking about it, I've finished most of the Resident Evils twice already:

    RE1 - PS1 & DS
    RE2 - PS1 & DC
    RE3 - PS1 & DC
    RE4 - GC & PS2
    RE Zero - GC
    RE Remake - GC
    RE CV - DC & PS2

    Barry Burton ftw! Still love the intro to the original Resi on the PS1, with the live action actors popping up as the characters are introduced. Can't believe they redid it for the remake; not nearly enough B movie shoddiness for my liking!

    Not counting 4, is 2 regarded as the best? Which mission is worth doing?
    I'm on about 20 times each for all the games, except 3 and C:V. Finished the original (including DC) over 40 times, I've counted.

    2 is regarded as the best, even better than 4 by some people, although my personal favourite is the remake of 1.

    Resident evil games are one of the few series that I generally finish, the only one I didn't was RE4. might replay that, can you use the wii controller for it or do you need a GC controller?

    Er, you definitely need a GC controller for that one, since it's a GC (and PS2) game.

    I've been looking for cheap versions of RE0 and RE1 for ages on the GC, does anyone know where to find it? Sub 20 € would be ideal.

    Actually, it might be. I hear that Umbrella Chronicles (for Wii) will be using a modified version of the RE4 control scheme, so I guess we'll find out. I think it has great potential though.

    £6.50 used on Amazon. :)

    I'm going to order it myself, actually. I only own the Japanese version of the GC game.

    Just this weekend bought my mate a copy of RE1 for £8 in our local CEX.

    GAME had it for £7 but it only had the first disc! Daft sods.

    GC controller unless ninty release an update.
    aha, not really been following Wii BC, so where is the list?
    I take it I will need a GC to play it then?

    Full BC so no GC required, just the controller and a memory card.

    Aye, the Wii is essentially a Gamecube with a faster processor so no software emulation is required. Only wish freeloader worked on it so I could play my US copy of RE4 on the Wii!

    I'm currently playing through Resident Evil 4 on Wii. I gave up on the PS2 version mainly due to the controls and the graphics which were shit.

    I'm tempted to go for another RE title after this, recommendations please?

    (Last one I completed was the original RE2 in 1998 lol).

    RE:Zero,
    REmake,
    RE2 (Leon1,Claire2)
    and RE3

    then I got bloody stuck in the sodding plane with the Tyrant on Code Veronica and gave up

    Not this again. The PS2 version is great, and the graphics are fine, and they're reasonably similar to the GC version, and most certainly not shit.

    I started this recently and i'm half way through Code Veronica. I've sold Zero on Gc as it's pants and i'm not playing those gun games.

    I stuck RE0 (only one I haven't played and finished) in my cube a couple of months ago, crashed into a few chairs on a train, got killed by a zombie who was half off the screen and switched off.

    I've never had that much of an issue with the controls before, just accepted that its how it works and they really are great games. But somehow post RE4 my patience has gone. Still want to get into RE0 though.

    For me RE2 was the best, also really like CV.
