Yeah, me too. I think his big dopey face endears him to me.

His demeanour is excellent too, he walks like a hunchback geezer.

You are a factory of sadness.

He does. It's like he's trying to channel his inner neanderthal snooker skills.

I dunno - his long ball game is definitely off thus far. But his break building when anyone makes a mistake has been great.

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realise half of them are stupider than that

Yeah, it's very tense. Not exactly vintage snooker but the drama is good.

You are a factory of sadness.

Amazing, considering the last frame that is very impressive from Trump.

You are a factory of sadness.

I really hope that one of these guys can stop O'Sullivan. The last thing I want to see is a one-sided final, and if O'Sullivan plays like he was yesterday I have a sinking feeling that that's what we'll get.

Fair play to Judd, he looked finished at 8-3 yesterday.

Loving the snooker this year, wanted Poontang to go a bit further.

I only want Trump or O'Sullivan to win it all, it'd be pretty special Ronnie winning it last year, having a year off then coming back and winning it again. That'd be great.

He's said that for more or less the last ten years. Hearn practically had to drag him out of bed to compete this year.

And now more than ever, the schedule is pretty grueling and keeps you away from your family, so it seems like a good time to knock it on the head.

It wouldnt surprise me if Hearn turned a few tournaments invitational to get around it.

Are they trying to groom Trump to be the new Ronnie, or is he bringing it on himself?

Either way, fair play to him. Snooker always needs a nugget or two to keep it interesting.

Isn't that because the carpet is really slippy this year?

The gulf in quality in the first two sessions of the semi finals is massive.

Bugger, I've basically missed all the snooker this year due to not being a student anymore. Hopefully the final is a good one and not an anti-climax.

Both of these semi finals have been fascinating, but for different reasons. The standard in the Walden - Hawkins semi is so poor, mainly because they both look terrified. Both players are so much better than they've shown, and it's easy to see how the pressure can affect your game. I'd like Ronnie to win this tournament again this year, even if he goes back on his word to retire again, he's still at the tail end of his career. Trump is quality, and at 23, he will surely win this competition at least a couple of times.

So Ronnie got a warning for wanking his cue off in a suggestive way to the ref. Nice work...I think he may be broken.

When Hendry was asked about it, he said "well, that's Ronnie"

Yeah I feel really bad for him, he's totally cracked up.

Both semis have been a bit meh. The frame where Ronnie got told off by Michella was arguably the worst frame of snooker I've seen in years (Ronnnie asked for a re-rack after 20-odd minutes and Judd agreed but it went on for nigh on an hour).

The standard of snooker in this tournament has been very poor. I can't help but think that Barry Hearne has had something to do with the downturn. Everyone just looks knackered.

Yes it hasn't been a classic. Murphy v. Trump in the QF was excellent entertainment though, match of the tournament for sure. Ronnie will cruise the final.

It has been below usual standard. If it carries on like this next year maybe there is just cause to slow the schedule a bit.
  • Deleted user 4 May 2013 21:37:11
Yeah, agree completely and it sets up Ronnie's "no going back" moto completely.

Some of the shots in this afternoon's session between Walden and Hawkins were dreadful, proper amateur on both potting and position.

Is this what snooker has come to after Hearn's introduction?
