I enjoyed Borderlands 2, Skyrim, Fifa 13, Halo 4 and Max Payne in no particular order.

Oh, Mark of the Ninja was great also.

I had Battletoads on the gameboy. One of the hardest games I ever played.

Nothing western market really impressed me. Planetside 2, obviously, and Borderlands 2 are great but they'd never make my top lists. Nor would XCOM, which is a great game... but not quite as great as it could have been.
Nice picks! Did you try Ultra Cartoon Schoolgirls Vaginal Belcher 6 yet? Or Talking Sexualised Cat 4? Both great game in their own right.

I hate to say it (ok, that's a lie), but coming from a raging fanboy that's quite hilarious.

    Halo 4 for me.

Could very well be Trials Evolution or XCOM but sadly I haven't really had time to get into them.

This post is sponsored by Apple and the iPhone 4S. Think different.

I played Talking Sexualised Cat 4, it was that XBLA platform game developed by an obsessive furry in his bedroom that everyone loved and then forgot about wasn't it?

LB, you really are a massive geek.

Surprised at the number of votes for Sleeping Dogs. I haven't played it yet but will do now. Had no idea it was "goty" standard.

I think it pleasantly surprised quite a few people, me included.

Not GOTY stuff for me, but a real pleasant surprise. Binary Domain is another one that came out of nowhere for me too.

It was a pleasant surprise, I think because so many were expecting it to be a turkey. Personally I wouldn't call it goty material, but instead a strong foundation for further refinement.

    Pleasant surprise.

Its not likely to win any GOTY awards, but it definitely deserves to be considered.

    Brilliant game.

    1 - The Walking Dead
    2 - Gravity Rush
    3 - Disgaea 3

Trying hard to think about what else I played this year, Uncharted GA is good but not goty material. Mario Bros U is good but I've just started it. Ditto ZombiU. I played a lot of Far Cry 2, this year and Banjo-Kazooie, Banjo Tooie. I didn't really get Journey, Pro Evo is Pro Evo and Fez was ok I guess. Sperlunky was good too and Mario Bros 2 was meh. I'd put the PSVita version.

Fez was a really strong contender for me, but some of the final puzzles were just on the wrong side of obtuse to tarnish the overall experience for me. It felt at the end like I needed to use forums and things to get past instead of something I'd crack by myself.

Wasn't for everyone, but I loved SSX, beat XCOM into second place.

Far Cry 3, because within minutes of each other I learned:

    a) what a cassowary is
    b) how to blow a cassowary up using C4

if you have nothing intresting to say then you might as well just throw your bags on the truck and drive away

vizzini wrote:Sorry LeolianBro, I take it back about XCOM, I was still blinded by all the FPS and EA games in the list. I do need to give it a try, as it might be brilliant.
Wow, so you exclude games from your list based on preconceived notions about the game type or the publisher?

How can i possibly expect you to have an objective and well informed opinion in that case?
