    Latest screens http://www.siliconera.com/2012/11/30/shin-megami-tensei-ivs-battle-system-detailed-new-screens-of-ruined-tokyo/

It seems as they though there won't be random battles. You have to initiate them. A good thing in my opinion

So this isn't Devil Survivor then? I can see myself ending up with 3DS again at this rate...

I think Devil Survivor was a spin off. Also, I think Strange Journey was spin off too. Shin Megami Tensei IV is a sequel to Nocturne

Out in Japan on 23 May. There's going to be a special edition 3DS too. Can't wait, especially as it looks like it'll be digital on day 1!

About an hour or so in. One thing that is striking is how good the 3d is, particularly in the sprite-based sections. As for the fighting - well, it's tough from the very start.

The eshop version is about 14,700 blocks - about 1.8 gigs.

About 4 hours in now. I really like the fusion interface - being able to search for a particular spell is great. My team got poisoned by a damage zone so I searched for the spell I needed (Pozumdi? Don't know how they express it in English language versions), fused a demon and cured everyone.

I've had my first proper "bloody hell" moment too. On the fourth boss-type encounter: fighting the guy in the hood for the second time he summons Wendigo, I didn't have much luck first time around as it just out-damaged me, so I come up with a team of glass cannons all with Agi and tried to kill it before it could use Mahabufu. It didn't quite work but I did enough damage to finish it off, albeit with almost no demons left in stock. What happens next? The fucker summons an army of Wendigo, which then proceed to critical my main character and one-shot him from full health! This is with Sukukaja cast twice, and they're using Charge, supposedly a low accuracy skill! Bloody hell!

25 hours in. It's definitely smoothed out in terms of difficulty but that might be because the game beats a sense of caution into you - it's very possible to be wiped out by enemies significantly weaker than you if you get taken by surprise. The music has really grown on me too after playing it with earphones.

Finished it last night. Good game, great soundtrack. The new demon artwork looks like it was done by someone who had only recently started drawing and didn't know how things are put together. Unsatisfying ending too, but you could argue that's my own fault for not managing my alignment (which you can't keep track of) properly. Good job they introduced that backup feature on the 3DS otherwise I'd be replaying 45 hours of stuff, not 10.

17 April will be the 1 year anniversary of the game being announced for EU. Since then total SILENCE from atlus and nintendo.

Most I've been able to pry from a atlus pr guy is: "It's not cancelled" and "things got complicated"

Come on Eurogamer, help us out! Ask atlus and nintendo what's going on? PLEASE!
