    That Sony is close to Microsoft really isn't the most impressive aspect of this story; it's that Microsoft will likely end up in third place behind the Nintendo Wii and Sony's PlayStation 3.

    I don't think anyone cares at this point. Sales have plateaued for everyone really because it's 7 years post launch. Snore.

    I'm guessing 360 has sold more games than the PS3 and possibly Wii.

    Don't think MS care. They are now 100% on the next machine now. Besides which, it's probably software sales that are more important now.

    Although Sony do seem to be bringing more fresh IPs to the table.

If they are very clever they do potentially knock everyone out of the market, if they go for the proper gaming market and not the family fun times nin and sony go for. Although, I can see why they do that, monies. Microsoft should just make a gamers machine. Do that and you'll make money. Sony and nin are going the other way.

    Microsoft have actually made loads of money from the Xbox, Sony have lost money and only in past few years made money.
    Sony had ten times the user base of Microsoft last generation, now it is equal.
    Who is the winner?
    Obviously Nintendo :) but Microsoft vs Sony Microsoft have clearly won this generation even if Sony end up selling one million more units.
    Oh and re making money Xbox users buy 8.4 games per console where PlayStation owners buy 5.1. It is a business.

    I doubt that ms made a lot of money off the 360, even though it was the most expensive console this gen.

    I guess he means by the time you add the add-ons like the wifi adaptor, wireless controller, battery packs etc. and Kinect. But as a stand alone. Ps3 was and still is the most expensive.
