So the EXPO been on 3 days and no one mentioned dishonored, wtf.

A friend of mine went and said the dishonored area was way to busy to even attempt to play it but from watching others it looks great.

Has anyone managed to get a play of it?
It was busy but the queue also seemed to move really fast. I suspect that is because people sat down, fiddled with the mechanics and made a pretty quick decision. That's certainly what happened in my case. The queue for this compared to AC3 was quite interesting too as the AC3 line was insane.

It was quite clearly a preorder for me, it had some neat ideas and it had a very Thief like quality. One aspect regarding that was that I couldn't figure out how the hide mechanic worked but I'm sure that will be more obvious when I play it for longer.

They do have to sort out the long loading times though, I might get it on PC as that will piss me off, I suspect.

You are a factory of sadness.

I wonder if the demos are running off discs or pre-installed?

One question - has there been any mention of how moddable it will be on PC? One of the best things about thief and deus ex was its modability and the sheer amount of community made levels - many of which were better than the main game (thief 2 had some bloody amazing custom levels).

If its open for modding and level designing then i might switch my preorder to pc.

PC will be cheaper, better looking, and you get mouse + keyboard control. And then all the other shit people might make for it on top.

Do people think this game will be particularly demanding on the PC, if it's using the Skyrim engine I guess it won't?

    It's not using UE?

Edit: The Wikipedia entry says it uses UE3

So if you've had good luck with that (Batman, etc.) then you can probably play this.

Ah, cheers. I've not followed it tbh. If it is UE scales really well.

I'd bloody hope it wouldn't use the Gamebryo engine. That thing was creaky when it first came out. God knows the fun and games that would ensue if they tried to get Dishonored on it.

I do believe UE3 is right IIRC. Certainly looks like UE3.

The recommended specs are pretty low.

Having played it at the expo I do hope there are higher res textures available in the PC version. They've said there's an FOV slider, you can turn individual HUD elements on and off, and there are "Graphics options for the full spectrum of monitor resolutions, anti-aliasing, and various other graphical toggles" (here).

Yeah, I've gambled on this being good and pre-ordered the Steam version.

I intend to buy a new PC at some point next year, so even if my laptop can't run it; I'll get to play it sooner or later. That said, I'm pretty confident it will run fine.

Does anybody know if there is a limit to steam licenses, I mean can you install and run your Steam games on more than one device?

    Cheers,

    Yours truly,

    Bitch_Tits.

You can install Steam on any system you like, and log in with your account, if that's what you mean. You just have to log into the same account. I play across multiple systems, same login (just not at the same time)

Dishonored, mixed for me at the expo. I wasn't hugely impressed when I played it on the show floor, seemed good enough, didn't like the FOV though. After the dev session I was way more hyped for it, they did an amazing job of showing off what you can do with the game.

Just been looking at the achievement list and there's a lot of different ones that will require set play styles from the start of the game. Will probably need to play it 3 times or more for the full set...

I've been wondering whether I should get this or now, figured i'd probably wait for reviews but, after doing this "choose your own adventure" video, I really want it. I love the atmosphere in it and even though the video is full of different options it seems like there's a ton of variables within each.

Edit: couldn't work out how to embed the video so you'll have to make do with the link.

I hate people who post in threads to ask what game they should buy.

But this is a pretty cheap pre-order (boxed, £22.85 at SimplyGames or £24.85 with "exclusive DLC" at Shopto) with some positive preactions™. So... should I buy it? :p

And a bit more specifically... does anyone know what's in the PC box? I don't want a plastic shell with a code stapled to the inside. If these are proper PC devs, I want a proper manual, at least. Maybe a map or even an artbook. All of my recent PC boxes (Skyrim, Witcher 2, Dark Souls: PtD etc) have something in them, and I'm eyeing up the Endless Space box for its extra crap, too. What's Dish Onored got?

You should buy a mouse with a scrollwheel before you buy this. Get your priorities straight!

I ordered The Avengers boxset thing from them a few weeks back and I they sent it 4 days in advance but I didn't get it until release day. So you should get it on release at least i'd expect.

I traded in a load of games today and put down pre-orders for this and Halo 4. I asked for this on 360 but he seems to have put it for PS3 but, as I have both, that shouldn't make a massive difference, right?

Early reports seem very good although the 5hr campaign length is a bit of a worry.

5 hour campaign, eh? That means it'll take me about 15.

The Resident Evil films. I'm one of the reasons they keep making them.

According to one of the level designers his ghost and no kills playthrough took 22 hours without exploring every nook and cranny, and knowing the solution to everything before hand

That sounds more like it. I like to soak up the atmosphere and take my time in games.

Spec Ops WAS only 5 hours, and every minute was excellent, so you can have great SP with only a few hours, I would rather more of course ;)

At the expo they did say anywhere between 8 hours and weeks depending on how you play, and that the 8 hours was for an experienced play tester going for a speed run.

    We shall see.

    I totally called it.
