Is each series supposed to represent the actions of one of the books, or are we still in 1st/2nd book territory?

We're in the third book but they're mixing things up a little.

And if you think the series is slow, check the books. Maaaaaaan.

LB, you really are a massive geek.

Hopefully they'll abandon most of the 4th and 5th books' events for the TV show, they're awfully edited and go absolutely nowhere.

The 3rd book is good though and has easily enough happenings for 2 TV series'.

That Lord of Bones look like a big idiot.
Couldn't he find some menacing bones to dress up in?

And again, the elite snow patrol are wering BLACK? And NO hats? Yeah... good work guys.

If you can read this you really need to fiddle with your forum settings.

Because I think it is not... not slow.

    That's how!

Well you ruined the game, I hope you're happy.

It might help if you expanded the point, I believe that's what ecosse was driving at. Someone needs to expand their point at least :)

I think it's moving at a decent pace and agree with others that say it could slow down. Perhaps because there are so many strands with often independent events, it could appear that things are moving slowly overall when really I think they're moving quite quickly for each individual strand. If you get what I mean.

Because I'd say "I think something" and he'd just say "no, you're wrong" and the conversation would never go anywhere.

I haven't read the books, so can't use those as a point of reference. One example I will begrudgingly give you to pick apart is the Daenery's side story. She's been doing almost nothing for 2 seasons now. Just get your damn army and attack with your stupid dragons already! Every time she's on screen I think, 'here's a scene that's going nowhere'.

Some stuff is moving along at an adequate pace, though. Some.

True, Daenerys has only grown from a shy young girl (only apparently good for cementing alliances) into a woman who has married, miscarried, lost her one true love, hatched dragons, watched her brother burn, led an army, killed warlocks, attempted blood magic, changed tradition and robbed a city to further her aims of conquest.

    Sod all, really.

    :)

I can't fault you for not wanting to engage with ecosse, it's usually a fruitless endeavor.

As w00t points out, Daenerys does get up to some stuff. I think the problem is the disconnect, her story is almost entirely separate from the things happening in Westeros. Which could make it seem less relevant and thus give the impression of slowing the pace of the overall story, I guess.

Daenery's started off with a bang, but I've found lately her story's been more of a whimper. It's great and all that she went to that mysterious place and pretty much left their entire upper echelon in a pool of blood, but who are these people and why should I give a shit? The one or two eps. she was there didn't make me connect enough with those people to really care one way or the other what happened. Now she's at some new place where guys are okay with having their nipples cut off. Again... who are these people?

Then there's the brother who's been walking across seemingly the entire world with that army for God-knows how long. They finally get to fight and you don't even see any of it. Now they're in Antarctica or some shit and there's dead things not doing anything at the moment.

Anyway, I'm just a casual viewer, so don't waste your time on me! :D

Each are very different catering to different markets and entertainments.

I'm one of those who pretends to hate RE and FaF in public but find myself watching them when they're on or I'm bored.

They should have ignored the books and kept Drogo alive, by now his kalasar would have killed half of Westoros.

Things I loved about the newest episode:

-the afore-mentioned digs at Renly. Throne of cocks... classic
-the Tyrells, particularly Grandma Tyrell. Although Margarey fondling Joffrey's crossbow was pretty cool too
-the Hound, and his simple "what the fuck you doing here?" at the end

Things I didn't like as much:
-the scenes north of the Wall. I don't find the TV Jon Snow to be all that good a character. Possibly because of the acting. He just seems a bit plain to me. And Samwell's scene was fairly useless. They are walking, he is fat and slow, the end.

But really, I am impressed that any plot progression happened at all, now that they're juggling god knows how many storylines at once. It must be close to 10 right now.

The black guard I could do without but other than that GoT is a real treat.

I miss the days when Dinklage was The Kings Hand and duked it out with the eunuch and Little finger.
