Playing through this and to be honest its really enjoyable, not sure how far im in but the mix of hand to hand and gunfighting really makes this game and the undercover cop routine has worked a charm. One of the better open world games ive played and does a lot of things right. Wei Shen is a great character and the story is really well done for this type of game, will keep motoring along!

I've always found that I never complete sand box style games like GTA etc but I've really got hooked to this and can see me playing ti through to the end.

Although the games version of Hong Kong isn't very accurate, more of a flavour really than anything, it's a great place to play around in.

My wife isn't happy that I've been learning Cantonese cursing from the game.

lol. On that point, I finally got round to playing this last night and can't believe the amount of swearing in it. I know it's meant to be gritty and all but is it all completely necessary? The wife gave me THE look of distaste when she saw what was on screen.

The nightmare on north point DLC is much cheaper than I expected and is quite good really. It's only 560 points.

Not played it yet but I wasn't going to argue with 3.19 on Steam.

Finished the DLC this morning and got all the achievements.. Not very long but i enjoyed it and thought it was worth the price. I probably let it drag on a bit by constantly fighting.

You can get the new DLC for 2.40 from greenman gaming using their 25% off code "GMG25-UAAHK-6AI9S"

Certainly worth the money, it's not hugely long, a couple of hours to get everything done seems about right but it's rather fun and pretty silly, the Jiang Shi hopping about must have made life pretty easy for their animators too.

The glowing eyes of everyone is a rather nice effect as well.

Is this game as open as GTA or Saints Row?

Similar to GTA: open world (though maybe a bit smaller than LC from GTA4), sidequests, collectables, mini games, buy clothes/cars etc. and can keep playing once story is completed.

Story isn't as long as GTA (30 missions as opposed to 80 or so), but it's still a great experience.

Thanks, played the demo and it seemed a bit restrictive but that's most likely down to being the demo.

It's well worth it, I really enjoyed this.

If you're on PC make sure to download the high res texture pack, makes the game look superb.

I'm really enjoying this game on the PC - but has anyone else suffered the 'police siren' glitch?

I'd just finished the mission where you have to disable 'Hot Rod' (was that his name>) so that the cops could catch him. Now there's a police siren constantly blaring out over every mission/cut-scene.

I'm sure I'm not the only one to notice that thugs die instantly in water, too. It's fun getting chased by four or five brutes before taking a quick swim - they then seem to take turns in plunging to their death.

Anyone know what the 2.5GB PC patch is? Hope it's not more cutscenes.

WTF!? Mandatory 4.5GB Patch this morning?

So, i'm downloading DLC on my shitty virgin broadband and it's not necessarily anything i'll be playing or interested in?

    F.U. S.E!

    Bugger that, update paused.

Seems like I may be the only one, but I found this utterly bland. Not quite dull, not quite dumb, but utterly forgettable. They're obviously trying to tell a story here, but it's so cheesy predictable and badly told, I felt sorry for the voice actors. Infernal Affairs this is not* !

Alternatevely : "GTA this is not !" or "Arkham City this is not !". Take your pick !

I picked this up on Steam and I'm loving it already. One thing though: is there any way to increase the size of the subtitles? I'm playing with the PC hooked up to my telly and the subs are TINY. All other text is fine.

I'm with u on this. Played it foer a few hours last night so not very far in. The hand to hand is overcomplicated and cumbersome resulting in having to avoid random thugs due to constant dying, there is not much variety to finishing moves, car and bike handling is fucking awful with the shitty camera and it just does not feel very open world. Its not a game I'm keen tpo go back to.

The hand to hand fighting is not remotely difficult or cumbersome, especially if you are used to batman games. I agree with you about the driving, and the story isn't fantastic, but this is a really fun game imo.

The mission variety was far better than in moat open world games. I started off thinking it was average but it really grew on me
