I don't think Bale will go this summer but they need to spend to get more big players. Need a striker and a left back more than anything IMO.

@kalel and look where that got us. Another season with a sulky player and 10m less when we sold him the next year....

    Re 40m for modric
He still ended up being a brilliant player for pretty much the whole season, and beyond that, it set an important precedent in terms of us not being bullied by other clubs, or seen as a "selling club".

Also nobody really knows what the full details of the Madrid deal were but the feeling is that it'll end up closer to £40m than £30m. It was £30m just up front.

@THFourteen Townsend to score a hat trick against Arsenal next season then :-P

I actually like the look of the lad so hope he actually gets some game time next season for us.

Although most teams don't have anything to really play for there is still a fair bit of money at stake:

10th: West Ham (v Reading H) - Could finish as high as ninth with nine-goal swing (£9million), as low as 14th (£4.5m)

    11th: Stoke City (v Southampton A) - As high as 10th (£8.3m), as low as 17th (£3m)

    12th: Norwich (v Man City A) - As high as 10th with eight-goal swing (£8.3m), as low as 17th (£3m)
    13th: Newcastle (v Arsenal H)- As high as 10th with 12-goal swing (£8.3m), as low as 17th (£3m)

    14th: Southampton (v Stoke H) - As high as 10th (£8.3m), as low as 17th (£3m)
    15th: Fulham (v Swansea A) - As high as 10th with three-goal swing (£8.3m), as low as 17th (£3m)

    16th: Aston Villa (v Wigan A) - As high as 10th with 12-goal swing (£8.3m), as low as 17th (£3m)

    17th: Sunderland (v Tottenham H) - As high as 11th (£7.5m), as low as 17th (£3m)

What Everton and Sunderland should really be thinking about today, is that they have the power to stop Chelsea getting back into the Champions League.

I'm that confident today that I've taken £200 out of my "Next gen console fund" and put it on Newcastle to win at 11/2. Arsenal are a bunch of pussies; it might be a bit warm today for Arse and vinegar to wear his sleeping bag, but I love watching the human caterpillar having a tantrum.

Iím off to the big top enjoy your football. :)

Ashley's going to give non-playing staff a share of £1m if Newcastle win today. That's how confident he is that they won't.

Anyway, what will be will be. We sold our two best players last summer and finished this year with more points. If he goes good luck to him.
Hope he goes abroad. Chelsea/City/Utd would be pretty fucking sickening.

Just whacked down £5 on accumulator with an estimated return of £2000 on todays games.

Should make my afternoon that little more exciting at work.

Not to be a negative Nelly but I have this strange feeling we are going to get shafted at Newcastle today. We've rode our luck too much in recent years.

Nope. COmfortable 2 or 3 to nothing. You'll explode out of the traps, score early, Newcastle chase, catch them on the break, game well and truly over. Spurs will score early, and concede in the 90th minute or something. I doubt we're going to win today.

He gave the players a speech saying that today they are playing for the staff to try and motivate them. Nice gesture i thought.

Just put a couple bets on.

£10 on Man U, Chelsea and Arsenal to win 4/1.

And £10 on Reading to win 5/1

I'd like to say, good luck to Spurs today. If we fuck up, at least there'll be a progressive football team in the top 4, and it'll be a kick in the proverbial for our manager, board and players. To a certain extent, a top 4 finish would vindicate them and could lead us to not strengthening properly in the summer. Not to say I wish we lose, but there are always 2 sides to a coin.

Put a fiver on Arsenal and Spurs to win, Chelsea to draw. I'm pretty sure Moyes will get a result on his last day. Be very suprised if Spurs didn't win too.

I just can't see us winning today, I'm sorry. Too much at stake for us not to have nerves, playing a side that could turn it on, whereas Chelsea are already qualified and Spurs have nothing to lose.

Got my bet on - 32 goals or more across all matches at 1.87, and a +1.5 goals multiple across four matches. Last day madness innit.

Despite this season being a bit of a stinker for Villa I'm still going to miss football after this match. Maybe I'll do something useful on Saturday's at 3pm ;-)
