I'm having a nice game as Everton. Not signing anyone, just bringing through the youth. Actually doing OK.

I'm finding it hard to sign players as Man Utd manager, they never want to come. I was surprised I signed Neymar.

What did you put as yr past experience? Maybe yr reputation is low and that puts people off.

Well it can't be that then. What sort of players aren't interested in signing for you?

Sign Frey, Sakho/Rami, Paulo Henrique/Hamsik, Fellaini, Lukaku/Babacar... The list could be endess. Nice additions to your United team. League won!

That is strange, I signed Pastore for united a few seasons in. When you get to the contract stage do they just say they aren't interested in negotiating with yr club?

That's a little strange, although I cant say I have ever gone Man Utd. I have been able to sign all of those players for other prem clubs at different times though.

Fellaini is a fucking tank, seriously amazing anchor man. Still quite young and you can sign him for about 11m, FM bargain.

Quite similar to Arturo Vidal in awesomeness but City always seem to sign him.

Maybe lack of experience? I only got the united job after 3 seasons and haven't started as a big club, so I'm not sure if they consider that or not.

I did sign a Dutch DM from Feyenoord who looks very promising. I think his name is Fer.

Just spent the money from my two FA Cup runs on a youth academy. Hopefully I can now stay in the BSP for a few season, get some great youth players in, and crack on from there.

I haven't found youth academies to be that useful in the lower divisions due to needing a wide scouting network too. I'd plough any future cash into wages/sign-on fees and pick up out of contract players. A mix of older pros and international youth players is a good balance to have, I find. UK and Irish players will often sign for a lower league team when they're out of contract. I like that you are building things up from the bottom though. It's a bit more realistic than my approach.

I had no players when I started, so it's like I've built the whole club. I had a bit of extra cash to sign a few players and coaches on full time contracts, the effect it's had in some of the players is unreal, and a few of them are getting interest from relatively big club. Sampdoria just made a bid for one of my players. Can hardly say no to 200k, can I?

Offer him to other clubs for 1m. You may get about 400k yet.

I will give it a go. It's odd that it's only Italian teams that are after him, he isn't from there and has never played there.

I can't decide whether I want to drop a hefty 8 on this with the new one around the corner.

FM12 will still be few months away it seems, and even then it'll be a case of of waiting for patches to sort whatever issues inevitably turn up. And the newer ones aren't always better anyway.

FM11 has to be woth a go in the short term at 8 quid.

As Andee says 2012 will probably be out November time, so there's still a few months to wait. For 8 I'd absolutely buy that, and I'm sure there'll be a fan DB with all the latest summer transfers knocking around soon if you want it all right up to date. I'll wait for 2012 for that myself though.

For the first time ever, Sutton United are in the football league! After two seasons in the Blue Square Premier, I made it to the play-offs, and beat Grimsby 3-0 at wembly. Now it will be time to lose my best players and battle relegation. But who cares, I'm in league 2!

is this game complicated and do you need to run the 3d match engine?

the last time i played cm was years ago, 2002/03 i think. i cannot remember for certain. all i know is there was a weird formation and tactic that ensured you could win most games, regardless of opponent or players available.

does this include tutorials and guides/advice for new players?

It is complicated but in a good way.
The 3d engine is not mandatory but is also quite low on demand for a graphics card.
There are two levels of tutorial (really tips that pop up as you encounter features) - a complete tutorial/tip system and one just for the new features in this iteration. However Fm2012 is promising a much more comprehensive tutorial system (one that is seperate from the main game) so if you are worried about getting lost in an ocean then it may be best to wait for that.

There are demos floating around though so why not have a go and see - you get half a season which could translate to around 10 hours depending on your play style.
