Can anyone recommend a good, free piece of software for mounting CD bin images as virtual CD drives in WinXP?

Hopefully something that isn't a total resource hog and is easy to enable/disable on the fly?

    ta.

As I think that was the one mentioned at the LAN that I was trying to think of.

    I'll look into it.

Any chance of a link? ;-)

    No worries found it now.

Did a search and the first lot didn't work, I think they must've registered loads of different addresses with out using them, as a search throws up .com. net .org but it's actualy .cc.

I've used Alcohol 120 before, but it's about a 30 day free trial before you have to pay for it.

If you have Nero 6 installed you can use ImageDrive to create two virtual CD's. Saves having to install another app. Just thought I'd mention it because when I tried uninstalling VirutalCD it completly fucked my Windows install - even safe mode was borked.

Be aware that a lot of game copy protection schemes these days balk at you having virtual CD software installed on your system, even if you aren't using it for that game.

    This space left intentionally blank.

I use CloneCD's virtual drives but I've no idea of it even gives a free trial (I think I got a copy with an old CD-RW drive or something and since then have been doing 'free' upgrades thanks to Supr).

Then again I burn with Nero and it isn't bad but CloneCD just seems incredibly easy and hastle free.

I used to swear by Alcohol 120% but then I had a load of really odd issues with Windows being unable to startup and BSoDing (at the time I though I was a virus of some sort because of it's frequency and that two of my machines went down with it at about the same time - quite possibly actually occured after a Windows critical update on both machines) when the virtual drive was installed and so I've avioded it for about a year. It was a case of installing the virtual drive, BSoDing within about an hour, restarting, BSoDing again within an hour, and then at some point it would refuse to reboot after the BSoD as Windows couldn't find some of the requred files. Repair fixed the system but it seemed like Alcohol was installing a very unstable dll into Windows when it installed the virtual drive. I'm not saying that will happen to you but I'd be careful.
