Its hardly an expected result though ecu.

It is a surprise that this Milan team have beaten barca 2 - 0, sure it's not as much of a Zomg as they're suggesting but it's still an excellent unexpectedly good result

It is an upset. No two ways about it. The commentators are spot on. Barca have won it three times in the last 7 seasons, and have been in at least the semis every year since 2006 bar once (got knocked out in 2nd round in 2007 by Liverpool).

Not saying Milan are pushovers, but Barca are a force in modern European football.

I wouldn't bet against them still.

So many of these. It must be really difficult being as moronic as these people are.

John, Manchester can obviously only remember the last two hours. I bet he's forgotten he wrote that already.

    Can't wait for tonight.

getting through would be absolutely brilliant, but I just plan on enjoying the occasion as well. Thought we gave a good account of ourselves i the last game and I'd expect us to get hold of the ball a little more tonight.

We had no problem creating chances in the Bernabeau so hopefully tonight will be no different except us taking a couple more.

Both Madrid and United are in fine for at the moment and it has all the ingredients to be a great game, lets hope it delivers!

I am counting down the hours to 5 o'clock

    :D

I'm looking forward to the atmosphere. The fan groups seem to be pulling out all the stops for this.

Hopefully the rest of us follow suite and the atmosphere lifts the team.

Obviously I'm talking about Dortmund here :)

    Already stressed to fuck.

I'm anticipating a drubbing if I'm honest. I think Ronaldo will tear United a new one.

    Brap, brap, old chap.

Just accept that it's going to happen and enjoy the game. That's how I'm approaching it.

    it doesnt work like that

no matter how much you convince yourself that you are going to lose (and you ARE going to lose) theres always a teeny tiny part of you inside that thinks you might win, and you can't shut it up

thats the part that makes you cry :-)

Yup, that was the worst part about the finals against Barcelona. Everyone knew they would win but there's always a part of you that knows that the impossible can happen in football. Until it doesn't. :(

David Moyes is co-commentating on Radio 5 tonight, might try to sync it with the TV.

I don't like doing the radio trick. It's a different type of commentary and it just gets annoying for me.

You're of course correct but it does seem to work for awhile until the game starts :)

Would love the old option of just crowd noise again. Commentary on football is such an archaic thing now imo. It was only really a necessity on radio and when TV picture wasn't great.

I can see who is on the ball. I can see who he just passed it to. I can see who is taking this corner. Combine that with the summariser sat beside him who just repeats what the other guy just said 90% of the time or despite having multiple replays still can't tell you if a decision was correct or not

It's odd watching old Big Matchs on ITV4 and such. They used to just not say anything for large portions of the game. I think the current trend for constant commentary is quite a recent thing (and a bad one).

I remember how excited I was for the last Man United - Real champions league knockout second leg.

    So wanted United to win..

My memory is hazy, I think I've blended my memories of more than one game into the same occasion.

One game where Beckham was substitute and came on to win the match but not the tie.

Then the game where redondo did that trick to set Raul up.

Then the fat Ronaldo standing ovation.

    Pisses on international football imo.

Agreed. My favourite commentator was Gerald Sinstadt. Barely said a word, it was great.

Nah, there were two separate ties - one where Ronaldo scored the hat-trick, and one where Redondo set up Raul.

Yeah, I don't think they won the match when Ronaldo got the hatrick.

From what I can remember, Mcmanaman played in central midfield and was exccellent.

I remember that being crystalised for me when I was watching a game with Motty commentating. At one point the screen went blank and he said 'Ive been told we have lost the picture' and he immediately snapped into radio mode, like someone had flicked a switch on his back.

It was a really jarring but amazing transition
