    @BCrowe
You should also check out Steamworld Dig on the eshop, that's awesome, as is Crimson Shroud, Gunman Clive and Pushmo.

If you like strategy games or JRPGs, you could also look at Devil Survivor: Overclocked, and Etrian Odyssey IV is a fantastic dungeon crawler.

Came across this Kirby video; first I've seen of it and it's *bloody lovely*

This was on the recent Nintendo Direct and it does look rather good. I wonder if they'll make it a full retail release. Perhaps it'll be download only?

So I bought a 2ds, partly out of curiosity, partly because I was desperate to tty the new pokemon and no other games were keeping me entertained.

It's actually not bad. Looks fucking stupid but feels good in the hands.

is it just me or does anyone else think the 3DS has had the best year out of all the consoles. Now i haven't played last of us, but my games of the year so far are fire emblem & Pokemon (i have put over 13 hours into pokemon already so i don't feel as though i am being premature) and the only game in the horizon that looks as though it might upset this duo is zelda link between worlds which is again on the 3ds

If you like JRPGs then probably. Otherwise no, PS3 by a landslide. I got mine just for 100 hours of Animal Crossing. It was worth it but I'm bored now, it hasn't been on in months except to whore streetpass hits at the expo. That'll change when Ace Attorney comes out though.

The 3DS has had a fantastic year, it must be said. It kinda goes to show that a console can develop a great library of games without the aid of major western publishers such as EA, Ubisoft and Activision.

    That needed proving?

As a Wii U owner, it reassures me slightly that my investment wont be entirely short lived.

Although they each bring out the odd good one, I'm sure the collective material of EA, Ubisoft and Activision probably lower the 'total games versus quality' ratio of a system rather than improve it.

Kinda works both ways though. You could equally say " If you like first/third person action games, then probably PS3. Otherwise 3DS by a landslide." That's not to say either is true, just that if you disregard the genres of the best games, it seems a bit of a pointless comparison.

This year, even if I disregarded the 300 hours on Fire Emblem, Monster Hunter and Etrian Odyssey, I still really enjoyed Luigi's Mansion, Steamworld Dig and DKCR3D, and have Layton, Phoenix Wright and Zelda coming up.

In contrast, the only thing I picked up for the PS3 was TLOU, and hadn't touched the thing since XCom the previous October, but I do have one eye on Bioshock, Beyond TS and Tomb Raider for a bit of cheeky discounted holiday gaming.

@Grax I could probs agree with this tbh.

    Luigi Mansion
    Pokemon X&Y
    Animal Crossing

So many hours have been put in to these games. More hours combined on these 3 games then I have on my xbox.

The gold is utterly horrid imho. Certainly when you see it from the other way round.

Hmm, that doesn't look great but it's not too terrible imo. I expect it'll look better in the flesh as well.

Didn't realise it was gold on the inside as well! Shame, as the outside does look nice.

If it were silver, it would resemble the original DS somewhat. I prefer the black interior, myself.

Hey chaps, I've been watching in the wings for a cheap deal on an XL. Should have pounced on the 150 quid deal from Amazon, free delivery to Ireland, but missed out sadly.

Anyone know where I can get one for about the same price?

Drat, they don't seem to ship to Ireland. Thanks though!

I was thinking of getting a new DS and doing some online stuff with Pokemon, do you have to cough up extra for Nintendo's online features?
