Is he still supposed to be half man, or whatever the man-to-robot ratio was? He just looks like a guy in a suit now.

I thought "f that" when I saw the suit, but reading that piece of spoiler from a scene actually has me excited.

It sounds much darker than the original. I can see what the director means now when he said it's set between Murphy's "killing" and when he becomes fully robocop.

Shit suit, 12a, why are they remaking all the intentionally violent Verhoven movies as family films!? Total recall flopped for alienating the fans of the original, I reckon this will also bomb.

    Oh gawd no!

    http://www.slashfilm.com/robocop-licensing-reel-explains-suit-evolution-features-new-concept-art-interviews-and-an-army-of-robocops/#more-148747

This is obviously a few months old, as the release date is now February 7, 2014.
The shot of Samuel L. Jackson isn’t labeled at concept art and, therefore, might be a real shot from the movie.
The story is more or less the same, at least at the beginning.
In addition to on the street justice, the producer confirms the RoboCop technology will have military applications in the film as well.
Those military applications seem to result in massive battle scenes with multiple versions of the robot
RoboCop is fast in this film, unlike the original. And he doesn’t miss a shot.

ED-209 has been upgraded with lots of new technology.
At first, RoboCop will have a silver suit that looks similar to the one in the original film. But a version of the black suit we’ve seen is, in fact, the new RoboCop.
RoboCop’s gun looks very similar to the original.

The Resident Evil films. I'm one of the reasons they keep making them.

Having finally watched the total recall remake this week, I think it's safe to say this is going to be shit.

The director choice alone set alarm bells ringing for me.

I think it was more of a backlash against remakes. It wasnt actually *that* bad.

The silver concept suit looks soooooooo much better, and actually has a strong link with the original. Looks like a logical update on the original.

This black one just looks like batman.

It was very average. I actually really enjoyed the first half but as soon as (the normally awesome) Bryan Cranston came on the whole thing just ground to a halt.

@nickthegun considering the large number of reboots going on the past few years, it's somewhat odd to choose the TD-R to start the revolt.

Besides, most people who went to see it didn't even see the original, so that can't explain it. Based on all the review I've read (haven't seen it. Ironicaly, I refuse to, lol), they all panned it as bobbins.

Saw the trailer on Screenrant this morning and the comments there were fawning over it. Looks like generic PG-13 action film boilerplate crap to me.

"Hey we really can't have the hero being slowly and sadistically shot to pieces before being killed by the villains, how are we going to get him messed up?"

    "How about a car bomb?"

"Yeah that has exactly the same sort of emotional impact of course but best of all means we can have kids watch it!"

Is this actually going to be a PG-13 film? Basically we have another Total Recall on our hands if so. Leave the 80's alone Hollywood! It did nothing to you!

Robocop is too violent for my taste anyway but this reboot looks ever so slightly a bit shit. Still, it should be better than Robocop 3. :D

I seem to recall ITV censoring Robocop so much that the plot didn't make any sense at all.

Dear god, there is NO hope.

On the remake of the kiddie friendly Starship Troopers, from the producers mouth

"He likened it to Sony’s reboot of “Total Recall,” which has stripped away the silly elements of the original movie and added a grittiness that stays truer to the source material. He also said their remake is not going to be anywhere near as violent as the original “Starship Troopers” was."

    Article here but it's old.

    http://www.ifc.com/fix/2012/06/starship-troopers-remake-2

Not heard nothing much about it since though.

As for the Robo remake, it looks like a 2 star film all the way. The only good that can come out of these remakes is that people who don't know of the originals discover them.

The Resident Evil films. I'm one of the reasons they keep making them.

I watched the trailer and when they started glimpsing bits of Robocop I suddenly thought they'd dropped the black suit idea and that actually he was looking quite cool, but they ruined that as quickly as they could.

    Looks awful.

I hope I can stay away.

Looks like they have sacrificed Boddiker for more humanisation.

Ive watched Robocop like a billion times and I couldnt tell you what his wife looks like. In this she looks like she is going to be one of the main characters.

It seems like its going to be similar to the Total Recall remake. Looks fantastic, has some brilliant and inventive future science stuff but ultimately boring.

This is not promising so far. It's a good cast and director, but it's going to be hamstrung by the push towards PG-13/12A ratings. And the design direction just doesn't work as well as the original. It's like Iron Man and the Guyver as one unholy mess, so on that basis, do I imagine watch in this at the cinema?
