There's a lot of good guids on mobafire and leaguecraft, lots of champion builds and stuff like that. Can't believe how unpopular this game is on EG :p

Loving LoL so far though must admit I'm annoyed at launching it and getting 'Server Busy' status and queues up to and over an hour.

Yeah it is a pain in the tits. good game depsite that though. I feel as though I have a ton to learn, still feel utterly uneffective against other champs.

I love the idea of LoL but I have always been put off with how unforgiving the game is to new folk.

The whole DOTA thing passed me by really and every video I have seen of these things suggest almost arcane levels of knowledge are required before you dare set foot in a game.

ive been getting on ok in the human 5 vs bots 5 game, i guess once its human vs human youre going to get more of the high difficulty curve. learn by doing though i guess isnt it?
  • Deleted user 29 June 2011 17:28:36
I have to agree, versus bots it's fine and personally I'm starting to get the feel of one or two champs and knowing good item routes for them during a match depending on type of play. I'd recommend it, I think it's excellent, it has the simplicity to pull you in and the complexity to be so deep.

I suck at killing opposing champs though :/

Yeah, hopefully they clear the EU servers soon. I have lots of sexy skins invested!

    I'll be happy to train you into LoL-machines. But I like to follow a few rules;

Play it safe: even if you -think- you could chase that guy with low hp; don't take the risk. Firstly, in the rush of seeing a chance of a kill you've probably failed to check your minimap for the rest of his team mates not including the possible champion you're chasing who might be baiting you while his more powerful abilities get off cool down.

Build to survive: It is common practice that if you have a high attack champion to simply continue building offensive items. That's great! You'll hit like a giant cannon and deal major damage...but you'll be made of glass and with just a small bit of crowd control you'll be destroyed in a hit or two before you had the chance to unleash fury. Don't ignore survivability items just because you aren't the tank.

Learn to last hit. Don't just go in auto attacking the minions; wait until they're killable in one health to guarantee the money.

I like LoL over DOTA and HoN because it doesn't feel as chaotic and it never feels like too many things are going on the screen that I lose track.

Cheers Ranbir - appreciate all the help I can get. Have been playing Ashe (yes, I know, I know, super easy mode...) mostly and enjloying middle laning, get a bit annoyed if I have to go top or bottom with a partner due to farming restrictions.

The whole last kill thing on Champs has been my major downfall. Chasing and then getting ganked - never fun.

Ashe is AMAZING. One of if not the best AD carry in the game. Her ultimate is a great initiate.

She is better in a bottom lane, with a support character. Atleast, that is the European metagame. The support offering harrassment on the enemy and letting the carry take all the minions.

I feel cheap so far as I've just played Akali, who against bots is a bit overpowered with her huge burst.

I love Akali. Her dash is great and it is possible to chain kills against everyone in a single fight.

They're going to split the EU servers into West and East districts to cope with the amount of players.

I think we'll all safely land on EU West.

Yeah just saw that. They've also significantly reduced the number of people available to queue for access in the short-term to improve server stability so we'll probably be seeing the 'Server Busy' sign for at least the next week and have no access post 4pm once the kid get home from school.

Shame I can't play some tutorial without waiting....
  • Deleted user 30 June 2011 20:20:20
The queues have almost killed my interest in this. Waiting for 30+ minutes for one game, no matter how good, just isn't worth it.

Yay! In! And tutorial complete. :)
