I'm playing through God of War 2 at the moment. Definitely much better than the first. It's bigger, more diverse and has a much more intense pacing. Combine that with an improved combat and it's a definite win.

^^ Agree, but I couldn't see it until I played GoW2. GoW1 is pretty awesome by itself!

Just finished GoW2 today and it was brilliant. Great pacing all the way through and is better than GoW1. But like Flying_Pig says GoW1 is brilliant by itself.

    Now onto GoW3...

I like it when he's angry.

I got the GoW Collection for my xmas and it's just been fantastic revisiting GoW one again.

Some of it seems really familiar - almost self-spoiling as I go along, but then I'll be taken aback by an epic view, battle, or set-piece and it's just spellbinding.

I actually never played the second one. Owned it, and my girlfriend completed it, but I somehow never found the time to give it a good go. I'm pretty sure I'll switch right to it the moment I get through the original, though.

hehe, yeah right. I played and finished GOW3, then I bought the COW collection, played and finished GWO1, GOW2 ist still not proper played. I think you will be a bit GOWed out, so perhaps take 1 month brake in between.

If I can finish GoW before I go back to work next Tuesday I'll be happy to take a break from that point and maybe pick up the second one at the end of January.

They're intense gaming experiences, no doubt about it - I've completed the original on PS2 and Chains of Olympus on PSP and when I was done with them I didn't fancy going back for a while.

I do like my winter "project" games, though - 2 years back I put 200 hours into Fallout 3 and last winter I played GTA San Andreas through again. Epic games and winters just go together, and they don't come much more epic than God of War. :D

GoW is a excellent series. definitely in the league of GTA in terms of quality.

Though I couldn't get into GoW 1 when I brought the collection and just skipped to GoW 2 lol. Took me about 6 months to restart GoW 1 which was today how coincidental.

Played GoWI on my PS2 but was so pissy with it as just couldn't do the final boss and as a result never thought much of the series.

Workmate lent me the collection and put 4 hours into GoW2 over the weekend.

Loving it. And surprisingly not finding it that difficult, thanks muscle memory.

Just knocked off the Medusa in II, call me stupid, and it has been a while, but wasn't there a/the Medusa in I as well?

Puzzles seem to much better here, and I've only come a cross a few spinning blades, the the roof this time. Hopefully that'll be it.

Hooray, GoW2 knocked over. Good times.

Left me hanging to play the third one. Kratos is such a bad motherfucker.

I have never played the first two GoW games but I just started/finished GoW3 yesterday and wow!

What an amazing game, I can't believe it took me so long to get around to playing this...

Well done SCEA/Santa Monica for an amazing exclusive title I guess. Probably the most compelling game I've played in the last six months.

The first 2 are well worth playing, though I'm not sure I'd be so keen out of order.

Having played them all I still think the first game had the best plot, the second game was probably the better game though and the third one was probably weakest of the 3, so if you amazed by the third your going to be jaw droppingly amazed by the other 2. Remembering of course that they were originally for the PS2, what they got it to do in those 2 games on the ps2 was an astonishing.

I agree with your assessment of the series but played out of order I don't think it'd be true. The 3rd is technically the strongest game, immediately apparent in the eye candy department, and after playing that it'll take a lot of the spectacle from the first 2.

Is it just me or does GOW2 look better than the majority of PS3 games?

Either way it's the best of a tremendously good bunch.
