The new mech trend in FPS

    I've noticed from seeing reviews and playing some of these games that there seems to be a growing trend to throw a mech section into an FPS.
    I don't know about you, but if I want to play a mech game... I'll buy one- For those wondering I'm talking about FEAR 2 and Killzone 2... which I know doesn't apply to this forum.

    Thoughts?

    It's because nobody buys mech games anywhere so the games companies had to do something with all those mobile suits they had lying around.

    I want some fucking mech games now. None of this anime crap though, I want big lumbering mechs with turning circles.

    Though stomping and roaring is a requirement.

    Mecha are Anime. Otherwise they're just big robots.

    I think you're meching too big a deal out of it; 2 games does not mech a trend.

    Actually, one game I regret never buying is Shogo. Loved the demo, never got the full title.

    I don't mind when they decide to throw a mech in for fun, but they're not very creative about it. The mechs are mostly just you with big guns strapped to your arms. Not only that, but the mech levels are usually the least challenging.

    Shogo was a great game. However, I wish they'd make an Ono sequel.

    Some more mech RTS would be swell.

    There were always mechs in FEAR, you just never got to play with them.

    So mecha's are bigger versions of powered suits, so require full body input, where mechs are just walking tanks?

    One of the guys in FEAR2 has a Shogo2 shirt on, I'd wager it's just a jibe though, but I'd fucking love it.

    If you want to play a mech game you will buy one? which one? Dynasty Warriors: Gundam or Armored Core?

    Not much choice tbh, I think it's a shame there aren't more mech games on the 360.
    I'd rather see a new mech series than just another standard fps.

    It has been licensed from MS by Smith & Tinker, along with Shadowrun and Crimson Skies. Bugger all seems to have happened though.

    Well considering there jobs listings are asking for VP of R&D, Director of Software Dev and Director of Marketing I'd say they are still building the company let alone building any games.

    I really, REALLY want a decent mech game (even Mech Assault 3 would do!). I'll be getting VO:oT straight away, for instance. And yes Khanivor, a Mechcommander 3 would make me rebuild a PC capable of playing it. Is AC4:FA any good?

    The demo did little for me, but I know people who love it and compare it to Shadow of the Colossus. Lovely cut-scenes though.
